Quattro 17
Maybe I need a kid from JB Hifi to help. New boat to me, has a TV. I don't think its smart though (makes two of us). I'm unsure of the connectors on the TV, but my question is, what do I need to transmit say Netflix or movies from say a tablet to the TV? Is it just a wire from one to the other or a dongle thingy. There's several things on TM but I don't really know where to start. If it's a dongle does it need its own power supply? I get bonus points from the missus if I keep her happy and entertained on board.
bigal.nz 65
Sounds like you need a chromecast. You might need to set it up via hotspot on your phone since it sounds like you dont have a modem/router on the boat.

Took a little bit of fluffing around to set up, but works fine now.

Does the chromecast or dongle need to be powered separately, or just plug into the tv? There's several things that I've seen, but don't know what is applicable. One is a small thing that plugs into the tv, the other kind of has small antenna that fold out. I'll get a couple of pics of what the tv has by way of connections. I'm not sure but I think it might have only the one hdmi port, which might be taken up with something.
aardvarkash10 1,159
All the Chromecast devices I've seen need both HDMI and a USB power source.
Black Panther 1,817
Mine just plugged into the back of the tv. Done. Everything else was programming.
