I find neoprene shorts too warm but all the boardshorts I have tried get caught on the gunwale grip tape as I hike so I end up with builders crack. Not pleasant for anyone else in the general vicinity. Something with a higher waist like the neoprene shorts would be ideal. Thought I'd ask here before I crack out the sewing machine.
