dmac 0 Posted March 19 Share Posted March 19 To equip my boat for be flexible for solo sails, I'd love to upgrade my primary winches into self tailers, but even the cheapest are a stretch for me at the moment. Aside from scouring TradeMe, are there a secondhand market for self tailing lewmar, harken, etc? Or am I better off saving up for a brand new pair? Quote Link to post Share on other sites

I did mate , was quoted ~8k+ for two Lewmar Ocean 50s and a 3mth wait...maybe Boatoon was having a clearance sale at the time. Landed the 50 Sports for ~50% of the Ocean quote. Psyche 923 Posted March 30 Share Posted March 30 There at least 5 different models of Lewmar 50 right now on West Marines site ranging in USD from 2182 for the evo to 3600 for the Ocean. Without shipping GST and any import fees the Ocean is 12500 for two, so going to be closer to 15k with GST etc. For the other end its 7600 plus fees so 8k does not sound too bad, it really depends on the specific model.
