Chewing Gum 18 Posted April 22 Share Posted April 22 My brother is selling this property which has been in our family for around 60 years. It has a very solid nice house and workshop and a very unique boat berth capable of taking a vessel of up to about 14m with 2.5m draft. It is totally protected from any weather event and has power and town water available. It is very close to the beautiful unspoiled Kaipara Harbour which has many sheltered anchorages and some of the best fishing around. I have commercially fished there for over 20 years and-in more recent times have sailed there from Auckland in a 12.6m keel boat during a NZ circumnavigation. I am surprised this property has not already sold as it definitely under priced but I think the council records showing it on a floodplain may be having an effect. In actual fact it will never flood because every 12 hours the river being tidal means any rain water quickly drains away. Also there are no large hills around so the catchment is small and land subsidence in the area is nil. Therefore siltation is not a problem. If you would like further information get in touch. Great spot for an active fisherman. Alot to be said for ditching marina berth rates right now... We live on a river too(Weiti) Our wharf isn't deep enough for a decent yacht but ok for a small keeler or launch. We have our boat on a mooring about 50m from the wharf.
