Given the prevailing weather, especially the few days after it was abandoned, I'm not surprise there is no sign of it. Would have been mid Tasman relatively quickly. Blown away from NZ at the least. And that is assuming it stayed afloat. I get mixed up exactly why they abandoned, but wasn't there talk of water ingress around the shaft seals etc? One would think that the new owners would spend some time getting familiar with the systems and having been onboard Paea and given the guided tour, all I can say is that there is a lot going on. The engine room is complex, lots of pipework, valves and whatnot, if something went wrong you would definitely not be working it out in 5 minutes. Agree, how long does it take you to get familiar with a boats vital systems ? quite a bit of cruising in my experience. I suppose if you are confident the boat has been well maintained you could take the owner along for insurance ie he/she knows what to do when something fails. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
