Stainless Steel etch primers (below the waterline)

Recommended Posts

Morning all

I'm seeking advice on etch primers to use on my stainless steel keel shoe, prior to antifouling. I'm in an estuary subject to heavy fouling, and struggle to get anything to stick adequately!

Any success stories out there please?

Will

Best advice is tech support at a marine paint company. Ive lightly sanded, primed with interprotect and antifouled a prop shaft which lasted for a season before degrading. A mate with a cast steel keel with paint problems even after etched primed, the issue is stray currents.
