There is no exact estimated time for repairs, but weather data, forecasts, and tides remain fully accessible. While technicians work to restore the VHF repeater sites, you can access real-time marine weather instead through these alternative options: The Coastguard App: Access live Nowcasting, tide information, and detailed forecasts directly on your phone. You can download it and view support info at Coastguard New Zealand. MetService Marine: Check localized, real-time marine forecasts on the MetService Marine App. Maritime NZ Forecasts: Continuous marine weather forecasts are continuously broadcast by Maritime NZ on VHF Channel 16 at scheduled intervals (0533, 0733, 1333, 1733, and 2133 hours). Mobile Direct Dial: Call MetPhone at 0900 999 followed by your regional area code for the latest conditions.
Psyche 958
TBH the VHF nowcasting service sucks, waiting for advertisements either for CG or various companies is just annoying and if possible I always go to my phone first.
Lindsay 40
The PredictWind app is way more useful - dozens of sites all over the gulf (in fact the world) and webcams too.
ex Elly 279
Yes the VHF nowcasting is a bit tedious to use, but very useful when you are out at Barrier and have no mobile reception.
Psyche 958
Spark in the bottom half and vodafone elsewhere, VHF reception is pretty patchy as well
