SIMRAD 2011 MT GAY RUM for "OLD FARTS"

Hey PaulR, how does this new handicapping system work out of interest? Presume it is somehow formula-based, a bit like IOR and IMS, but possibly less complicated and without the loopholes?!

It should all be done by mirrors!!! OR

Definately formulae based, remarkably similar to last years.

(Age of boat x 4) + Skipper's age + Crew's age = combined age

then factored as a % of the Avereage Combined Ages of above,

then reciprocal (for maths purposes)

Then TCF x Old Fart's Factor x Course nominal distance(s).

Last year I posted the spreadsheet so all could check for human errors and see the calculations.

So each year you continue racing, the lower your handicap will become, the more likely you will win, unless . . . .

Last year we only did the SIMRAD 100 race, but this year we can do all 3 races for overall result. Possibly Squid may have his tentacles twisted and we may have prizes for each race.

Ok, let me get this straight. The older and more experienced you are, the easier we're going to make it for you to win? Brilliant.

The answer is knot "YES" and it is knot "NO".

The answer is definately somewhere between a "most likely maybe" and a "probable perhaps".

The only problem is that you are getting older but not quickly enough

so is it good or bad if the youngest guys are sailing the oldest boat?

It's very good, about as good as 2 old farts in a brand new boat for sure.

Depends who can sail the best, fastest gybes, smoothest tacks, least trawling, keeping all the corners of the different sails attached, least collisions, last port / starboard situations to mention but a few basic facts included in seamanship.

Apart from that you do have a really good chance

Supplies arrived this morning, one bottle per race and an overall winner. :D

Thanks Squid    &

NEW RULE:

If your skipper or crew changes for any of the races in the series, then you must post the new person's age here ASAP.

This will allow fair Old Fart's Factors to be adjusted fairly, for each race.

RULE Two.

I make the rules.

Rule 3.

See Rule 2.

truxton 25

Skins 30

Foulds 28

Bring on a smoking north westerly.

Interesting what we think of as good boats are all so old.

Or you could come and check out the fine dining and drinking on board truxton.
