Was a couple of weekends ago but was epic.

Left Tauranga on Friday morning, got to Issy bay at 10pm for a sleep.

Got up the next morning did the last SSANZ race. Got the Gun for our division. Rafted up in Issy bay for some rums with a friend who brought us over Fish and Chips from Waiheke.

Got up the next morning and sailed back to Tauranga. Had an awesome run home 12.5 hours from Issy Bay to A beacon. Five hours from the Mercs to A beacon mostly two sailing but got the A3 up once the wind dropped to 20 knots. Had a couple of lay downs but mostly good.

Got some footage two sailing in a 35 knot north westerly under reefed main and no.4 hitting over 20 knots at times.

For bonus points you must drop the mast while motoring, navigate under two bridges, raise the mast while being passed by large motor palaces that are kicking up a 0.5m wake. 32 foot, mast head rig, telephone pole for a mast section!

Spent a most enjoyable weekend herding a fleet of Nigels around the inner gulf.

Hard work for everyone with that wobbly wind though.

Watched a Platau, a E7.9, a C40, a Supertanker34 and Stieny 2.

In 4nm all of the smaller boats had put 600-1000mts on Stieny, that was an interesting watch.

Shepherding is probably better than herding. All boats had smart drivers who were kitted up as solo sailors who value their lives would expect to be. They were all very good from the safety angle.

you missed the E1050. Or did you just assume it would be quicker than Steinlager 2?

Thanks for being RO, hope head wasnt too bad in the morning.  But next year, please dont forget to order some wind.

Rebuilt a morse. $400 up for a new telegraph put us into valium mode. The old MV-1 was seized, years of salt getting in and no grease. I jokingly said to a friend as I removed the back of the gear box "this is usually when a spring flies out..". A spring and a ball bearing flew out. Soaked it in diesel and got the neutral button freed up, stripped it down and added a grease nipple. Works! What a job hooking up the cables..Another story.

Pulled my mainsheet and jib tracks off, drilled out oversized holes in preparation to epoxy and re-drill then reseal the bolts (they were starting to leak).

Had the same on the jib tracks. Are they counter sunk on top? We used a sealant a year ago as the water was getting down through the counter sunk screws last year. Didn't have to remove them. Not a problem since.
