bene_sails 0
i was talking to Alex from C-tech and he said something about a kicker/vang system that some of the 12s are using. apparently its a carbon strut thing at 90 degrees to the boom, paralell to the mast with a purchase which pulls the strut toward the mast and therefore the boom down. i presume the main advantage would be that there is more room under the boom where the traditional triangular kicker would be. does anyone know what boats these are on or even better any photos of this. Guest
all the r's are in chch. they sail out of lytleton. some of the ausiess have these. They have their merits but hey also don't. You have to ensure you have a really butu gooseneck and mast post as alot of load goes trough them with that system. if you configure it as the one in the pic you are not really saving space as you still have that rear support arm in the way. a rope vang you can atleast tie up and carry on if it breaks. Matty 0
Is the vang/mainsheet system like on skiffs used on any small cats or they all go for the main sheet/traveler?
SloopJohnB 323
These one like this on a PT I can get the leach tension and still be able to rotate the mast to any angle.
