Store at Rocky Bay (Omiha), Waiheke?

Last time I was there,(last year I think), I was unable to find the store mentioned in the Royal Akarana Cruising Guide. We stopped the bus driver and asked him, and we were told we had to catch a bus into one of the villages. The shop had burnt down some years ago.

I think the bus runs every hour during the day - we caught the bus into town from there - very easy and not far. The bus stop is about 80 metres from the beach.

You can probably google the bus schedules.................

And the bus drivers were helpful!!

Probably get lots of lost Aucklanders like me to help!

That's all correct.

Busses all run hourly to correspond with the ferries back to town.

In addition to the busses that run around the villages there is the Island Hopper bus that does wider loops around the island (see: http://www.fullers.co.nz/WaihekeIslandHopper.php)

Store at Rocky Bay is well gone. The closest shops are at Ostend (Countdown). The takeways there are a couple of average fish and chip shops though.

What you are best to do food-wise is get a takeaway meal delivered to Rocky Bay via Waiheke Hoime delivery (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Waiheke-H ... 9572055908). The website lists what resturants they serve. Have cash on hand!

Also If you are at the bottom end you can't go past Man O War's new tasting room (http://www.manowarvineyards.co.nz/Tasting-Room_343.aspx).

Thanks for that, good to know. Ended up making the main meal of the day lunch at Vino Vino leaving the boat off Blackpool, and overnighted at Kauakarau Bay.

Second that!!!

Arrr right, that makes sense. I thought that "wandering" had been due to the AP sensitivity set real low.

Had a great afternoon there Wheels and met a couple of long term Kiwi live aboards on their Alloy yacht. Very interesting people. Polished off a few bottles of MOW Chardonay and Sav.. Hic..

Oh where they Kiwi's? I saw them a couple of times and saw a Union Jack on the back with no stars and we decided they must have been British. Man talk about a huge number of lines on that thing.

I forget their names dammit. They live in Gulf Harbour when in NZ but have been cruising for the last 30 years on and off. 45ft Alloy yacht, I think a Davidson design. Nicely set up..
