Round New Zealand updates

This race has been more absorbing than the Volvo in a lot of ways -fantastic effort to all who started - am sure this has been something you will remember (for varying reasons!) for ever

up to 29 pages on this, and only 14 for the volvo leg 4. and most of that is Stephen C updates

(not a criticism btw, just noting no disucssion is being had)

I was told that the local Liquorland doesn't open down there until 0930. Rob may have been running short after his harrowing experience out there.

Ah that makes perfect sense.

You heard it here first.

Surreal 10:51:37

All well, dying for a rum.

Sunstone, Vingilot and Revs (probably in that order) should arrive today.

Wasn't there some mention of Copellia awaiting spares for the self-steering? That may explain the delay in restarting.

Thanks ! Whats Grape's credit card details ? We are showered fed and on the rumbo's waiting for the second boat.

The Beneteau First 47.7 has a few pluses...

Comfort

Freeboard (incredibly dry)

and doesn't perform too bad

In many ways it's like a big Farr 1020... strong upwind and good all round but won't light up downhill.

Leg 2 was a bitch for us weather wise... Always seemed to be helping Sunstone. We parked up at least 7 times letting them catch us. Then often when it was rough we had to slow the boat down to 4-5 knots to prevent risk of damage. The boat would have done 7-8 knots if we let it... but to finish first first you have to finish. We saw a few opportunities to push to open the gap... including a new speed record 21.3knots but all gains were then lost in the next park up...

Anyway still a good result and if we keep it up something will eventually stick and we will feature overall...

Hey Cam, well done mate. Huge effort.

Hey Fleetwing, need to check your spelling of Holgate if you are going to become a publicist.

Actually Cam, I have a bottle of Rum destined for Fleetwing, but since he has offered it up, I guess its yours now.

Keep Holgate out of the Paua and Crays, so he doesnt upset the locals.

Enjoy your southern vacation.
