Folding/Retracting Cleats - any good?

We have them on our Elliott 7.9, they are great. In fact I have two larger ones (can't remember if they are the size in the link or larger 200mm ones) that I was going to fit but decided against midships cleats in the end.

PM me if you're keen as I am keen to get rid of them

Got pop up cleats on the stern of the Marshall. they have to contend with the nasty surge we get in bayswater, and have showed no sign of stress at all yet, so yeah, they my tick!

What are the good ones, and what are the bad ones?.
You just have to get a one in your hand and have a good eyeball looking for potential dodgy bits. Like most things these days they look all the same but can be serioulsy different.

Would these hold a 930 on a mooring or anchor in a blow?

Currently have two alloy cleats on bow, each about 6in long, but they have a tendency to attract sheets at inopportune moments.

Personally I would trust a well made solid cleat before a well made retractable one. But then I never use cleats for anchoring or mooring, only a bollard. A way to prevent snagging sheets is a couple of shaped pieces of timber that fit over/under the cleat horns and are held together with a bit of bungy.
