Bow fairlead mounting

Pugwash

Recommended Posts

Silly question, maybe. I'm mounting a pair of fairleads on the bow of my trailer yacht for the anchor warp to run through. These are handed. Which way round do the go? Anyone have a photo of the correct location?

Tried to upload photo but can't get it to work. Get the message "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached"

If you place them on the rail and look down, the angle through the fairlead should match the angle of the line running through it. Not sure you will get a "directly ahead" angle with the fairleads though if they are anything like the pic below, normally they are to take mooring lines which come in at an angle, rather than the anchour line directly ahead.
