vaka 0
Day two of testing for ETNZs new AC72. The wind is SW 15 gusting 20 although it may get up in the afternoon to 20 gusting 25. Once they reach the outer harbor they unfurl the jennicker they accelerate and head for the horizon.
Grinna 2
Regardless of whether foiling is a significant advantage or not and notwithstanding entrenched views about which team will or will not win the America's Cup, it does look bloody impressive seeing such a large boat up on foils scorching around the harbour. These things really are an amazing piece of kit.
Steve Pope 243
The loadings on the foil must be extremely high, with the total weight of the boat / crew, plus thrust from the wind etc. etc.

Megwyn 2
Remember Williwaw - Foiling tri that sailed here from Hawaii about a million years ago? 20000nm is a long way to sail hiking out on the windward ama . . .
Grinna 2
Watching that footage does my head in. Interesting vessel though ..... but I'm guessing that hydrofoil technology has probably come a long way since then.
Marshy 30
That footage in that video has been sped up. Hence why the Monohull about halfway through it is going quite quick too. And why the shakey camera is even shakier!
ScottiE 174
And to think some one mentioned on this forum,[about four years ago, that the. "Foiling moth" technology will evolve into fast foiling multihulls and maybe even large foiling off shore monohulls. sh*t - that's awesome - who said that?

Guest
Should we be worried ???
Kiteroa 8
Not as worried at the others would have been when ETNZ was doing it 5 months ago.
