Exciting questions.

Who will be helming WT?

Will the bump turn up under new management?

Will fish take the littleun on the start boat to start the brain washing early?

Will we get boats from the "other side of the bridge" come up to the banana belt of whangapoaroa?

Will team wife/ granddad rewi beat team husband and lads rafferty rules?

Or more realistically will the first race be cancelled by 45kt south westerly storm?

All to be revealed in the next riviting episode.

I'll be coordinating the carnage on bow again tomorrow, so the old man and Aaron Young will probably share driving duties. The Bump crowd have made noises about coming out, although you'd expect them to take it easy first race out of the box. What's News should be a starter though, they're rocking some slick crew work so should perform well in the breeze.

If it's highly likely to be cancelled can someone let me know pretty early on, The What's News guys and our crew have a bit of a trek to get up there! 021 724 576

It's strike one for the townies I'm afraid. We've pulled the pin on tomorrow due to crewing issues. BUT, we are really keen to see what all the fuss is about and will definitely be there for the next one.

cancellation should be on the weiti hotline if they cancel.

.

As the new bowman can't lift the kite pole yet, mainly due to not even being four weeks old yet, we thought we'd skip this race. Not wanting to let an opportunity go by, I took her down to Arkles with a good pair of bins for some covert spying on the competition.

I can confirm racing went ahead, but must have been a very short course. Start was at 14:00, got down there maybe 15:15 (little girl was a bit sqauky, slowed things down a bit) everyone was finished and heading home.

Looked like good smooth conditions but with some ominous clouds about. Tiri observations showed some big variances in wind speed. Saw the all girls crew on Riwi under full sail, Independence and Whale Rider were heading home. Basically we were a bit late for any useful observations or photos. Looked like mint conditions though, flat water with plenty of Westerly

Let the brainwashing begin. goodonya fish.

excellent decision by the race committee to run the racing on short course.

Perfect conditions for rafferty rules, flat water, 15 knots and we were smoking upwind.

pin end bias at the start meant argie bargy between a little 26 footer amongst the big 40 footers. We held our own and got a great start.

first reach too tight for a kite and then the fractional halyard went to the top with no kite attached so we put the fraci kite on the masthead halyard.

second beat was all good with us hangin onto the coat tails of the big fullas.

flat off was good and squirty with 10.5 knots under masthead kite.

as we finished the sky turned black around us,but then it cleared again.

close enough to take the rum home and start screwing the handicap.

Its ok just wait until we get an easterly and we'll be out the backdoor ( until we go downwind).

great day out

Sounds like your handicap will be in need of a an upgrade then!

We had to make the call at 11:30 as to whether we raced or not. At that point it was blowing pretty hard and pouring with rain so to avoid making the crew drive 45 mins to the boat we pulled the plug. Of course as soon as we packed the boat up it was back to 15 knots with sun! So that will have to be our drop race for the series. Looking forward to the next one. Fortunately most of our competition were thinking the same as us so there isn’t too much damage.
