aywwa 0 Posted July 22, 2013 Share Posted July 22, 2013 I have one on a Farr 1104. No problem handling the boom weight and length at all. Just amazingly strong. When I purchased mine (from the US at about 1/2 NZ price) I was a bit worried how light it was. Put it between 2 chairs and subjected it to 85kg of bounce. Didn't even bend. idlerboat 116 Posted July 22, 2013 Share Posted July 22, 2013 Boom kickers are great.....but before you spend big bucks , you should ask why you need one. A simple stopper knot in a topping lift will do the same thing that most boom kickers do. That is stopping the boom from crashing down. With big roachy mains , and you are racing, then sure. Topping lifts interfere . They are very easy to build as long as you can source the spring. A long throw , marine tolerant thing. Whatever you do keep that spare main halyard (topping lift) because if the tubes get bent their a bitch. Link to post Share on other sites
