Boomkicker

I have one on a Farr 1104. No problem handling the boom weight and length at all. Just amazingly strong. When I purchased mine (from the US at about 1/2 NZ price) I was a bit worried how light it was. Put it between 2 chairs and subjected it to 85kg of bounce. Didn't even bend. Easy to install, trouble free, maintenance free, lighter.

Boom kickers are great.....but before you spend big bucks , you should ask why you need one.

A simple stopper knot in a topping lift will do the same thing that most boom kickers do.

That is stopping the boom from crashing down.

With big roachy mains , and you are racing, then sure.

Topping lifts interfere .

They are very easy to build as long as you can source the spring. A long throw , marine tolerant thing.

Whatever you do keep that spare main halyard (topping lift) because if the tubes get bent their a bitch.
