Wanted: Seagull Silver Century Outboard

Every so often even a blind squirl finds the acorn.....

Trawling trademe this morning and there she was..... Zero views! She'd only been listed for 3 minutes.

The jewel of the seagull crown, a near mint condition 1995 performance model. 10 known units in the country, and only 4 of those are runners.

Things are looking up. They need to, spent all week tweaking my other engines only to drop 300rpm and go half a knot slower!

We might have to build the new boat first. Paris has put on a lot of weight over Christmas, mainly due to her insides not being sealed properly. So we won't be so competitive with her any more.

Not too sure when or where the next race is. Haven't seen the 2014 seagull events circuit schedule just yet! But usually events are posted here:

I think the old seagull seadogs only drink 'Black Heart'. At least that's what they were stirring into their tea on the morning of the last Waikato race. Either that or meths and brown food colouring.....

Orge, when we've got Paris the 2nd up and running, you should come to a race with one of your daughters and run with her on Paris the 1st. I'll sort everything you need if you're keen to give it a go.

Sounds good AA! As long as you keep the multihull fetish under wraps, make a good cup of tea, mix a dirty 10:1 2 stroke and cut the crusts evenly off a club sandwich, you should fit right in with the other shore teams

Bring gloves and rags. Probably hand cleaner also. These events have a habit of turning filthy.

Most of the racing classes have a 'one bow' rule unfortunately. You can however use a use a multihull in the open and sport classes. Although you need to be able to do at least 20 knots if you want to be competitive with the current monohull guys.

Some guys have used cats in the past, but they just weren't competitive.

There's some good parts there!

Got all over the jacking plate & tilt system this morning. We're out for another test tomorrow. See if we've made any progress on out cav plate setup. All going well we'll break the magical 20kmh mark ha ha!
