Chill Pill 1
Question for the gurus. The speed indicated on the tracker is what exactly? The distance covered between pings in a straight line over the hour? Instantaneous speed at the time of the ping? Or some other calculation? Cheers
Jon 360
Question for the gurus. The speed indicated on the tracker is what exactly? The distance covered between pings in a straight line over the hour? Instantaneous speed at the time of the ping? Or some other calculation? Cheers We believe that it's the VMG over the preceding hour ?
Black Panther 1,586
If so be careful not to read too much into it when they are on the wind. A boat that hasn't tacked will show a much higher number than one that did.
Guest
And a boat already in port will be quite slow, currently. Well done Team Blink. Awesome result. Must go a long way to alleviating the disappointment of not leading into Wellington.
Adrianp 120
Bushido seems to be in a very different breeze at the moment. GO THE MARSHALL LAW!
Guest
Can these sailors see the Tracker, and thus their opposition, on their I phones out there? or is the coverage to dodgy. That little elliot is quick!
Island Time 1,235
another great leg! Close racing and interesting, The Marshall having a blinder! Enjoying it, even from here...
MOTORBOAT 0
there are places with coverage like around castle point but most of it is fairly limited I think, of course that is based on our race 3 years ago so it may well have changed.
SloopJohnB 322
I better start packing up things at work and head to the club and get the beer on the bar for smithy.

Guest
John, how stoked was Smithy yesterday afternoon?
Guest
So what is worse - a long night hard on the wind in lots of breeze or a long night in no breeze? Well done those who got in overnight. Rob and Sally continue to make it look easy. Johno in Midnight Express got back from the dead.
smithy09 50
John, how stoked was Smithy yesterday afternoon? Very stoked Bardy!!! Happy chap indeed. Great to see John after quite a few years. Thanks for the welcome mate!!
Oracle1 21
poor old cc, looks like they either have the worst of the light wind .. or they have had a gear failure? they don't seem to of moved much since last night...
smithy09 50
Well that's Leg 3 done and dusted. After a super comfortable night's sleep (Big thanks to Craig McPherson, Gav's Dad, for renting a 3 bedroom apartment right by the yacht club!! ) we woke up to find that we had claimed the provisional PHRF win overall!! Yee Harr!! Looks like our "Buffalo Girls" strategy paid big time, with no park ups and a very worried Bushido only just in front of us at the finish. I heard that Mr. Elliot was not impressed that a 30 year old Ross boat was chasing down his canter.. I'll take that as a pat on the back! Write up on the leg to follow. Happy crew!!
