Fogg 427
Anyone know what's happened with Paget Rock? It used to have a rusty old can marking it - then that was upgraded to small metal beacon + light..... but last weekend that had gone leaving no mark whatsoever?
Vorpal Blade 89
Speaking of leaving a mark, while out watching ACats we couldn't help notice that 4 buoy is in need of a bit of panel beating, now that definitely must have left a mark.
wheels 543
Now that took some doing. Those Cans have mighty thick walls and are tuff.
marinheiro 352
It was missing at Xmas, maybe washed away?

Been like that for years. BTW most of the Rangi channel buoys are plastic

Fogg 427
Answering my own question (response from Harbourmaster below): We are not sure if someone hit Paget Rock beacon or weather wave action weakened it to a point that it broke off. We have the remnants of what’s left of it in our office. The Paget Rock beacon was owned by Coastguard Northern Region but we are talking with them about the future of it and it may become our responsibility. In the meantime whilst we determine the logistics around replacing the beacon, there is a LINZ Notice to Mariners in force advising that the beacon has been destroyed and that mariners should navigate with caution. Thanks for letting us know, we often rely on others letting us know what’s missing, unlit or out of position etc. around the region. Regards
