Elenya 32
Yup we have had some gnarly wind and rain. About 50 knots steady through the port at Lyttelton yesterday afternoon. As of this morning we had 6 yachts either ashore, sunk or capsized (multihull) on the mooring at Akaroa. We have three sunk at naval point wharf, with three more severely damaged and likely to sink today. There is also several boats with mast down, cleats ripped from deck and other similar, but non catastrophic damage. An additional trimaran is sinking in Cass-Corsair Bay. wheels 543
Not nice. I have a Cousin that is in Avonside and they have severe flooding. They say it is partly the amount of rain, but also partly because the land has dropped so far, the water is just overflowing. I seriously think they have made a big mistake in allowing the East side of CHCH to remain residential.
