  1. If you keep attacking people, then don't be surprised when they push back. Actions have consequences. Welcome to the world.

  2. The offending post SUPPORTED the kick in the face (didn't just post a link Harry). That's untenable. As for self-defence argument, gimme a break.

  3. We have owned General Jackson for around 3 years in Tauranga, a Compass built GRP Farr 38. I was unsure if we (wife and I) could handle such a large yacht but it has been a great boat so far. We club race it, cruise it and fish off it, what a well set up boat it has turned out to be for us to enjoy. The boat was formerly Jenny G, a well known yacht raced in the Auckland area for several years by Alan Gibbs with the name derived from his wife. It was extensively renovated after changing ownership into the state it is now, focussed on extended cruising from which we have benefitted from!

  4. Yep have the same kit and the outlet gets jolly hot to touch but doesn’t offgas or go soft . dimond roofing and metalcraft roofing both do galvanised 80mm down pipe . And you could insulate it with the socks made for heat transfer system ducting which is easily got at big box hardware stores and electrical wholesalers .

  5. We had a great race. Nailed a good start going with masthead genny when others held back, seeing that the wind would shift aft well aft before motuhie. Ended up in just behind Rogue 2 and a couple of cruising division big boats. Held our spot across to navy buoy then a smoking reach across to the noisies under masthead then 3/4 kite to take the lead of the whole fleet which we held until almost home bay motutapu. then a ten mile beat to windward in a wind against tide chop and we could do nought but watch big-boat after big-boat pass us. we finished 1st in line in our divis

  6. I'm curios Kevin, have you watched the full video of what went on? The RNZ clip is very short and is somewhat one sided, it only shows the kick. The one on the Herald gives more context. Of three workers, one worker is in the water, one is climbing out of the water, and the third is being approached by the guy that he ends up kicking in the face. You will note also on the Herald clip that it can't have been a very good kick, cause the guy (protestor) gets straight back onto the pontoon and continues the scuffle. There are long clips on the Protect Putiki facebook group that don't show th

  7. From the clip on the news, you can see the protestor was having a good go at getting that guard into the water. They had just got another guard into the water, so the danger was real and present. The protestor was in a wettie, the guard in heavy clothing. Protestor swum under the pontoons and popped up in the hole in the middle (where the pole is) to get behind the guard and ambush him. Protestor very nearly got the guard in the water too. It was the protestor that initiated the skuffle, but lost. 50:50 could have gone the other way. No, it is not appropriate to kick people in the face, b

  9. Hay AA10, I apologies in advance if this post upsets you. Are you using that PVc pipe as a carrier pipe or an encasement pipe? i.e. is it carrying air, or encasing the fancy foil ducting stuff? I've been carefully studying how to install a diesel heater in my old wooden boat, and am fairly cautious about hot pipes in enclosed spaces etc. I haven't yet found a suitable pipe for all of the ducting, other than the rather expensive foil ducting. If you are using regular DWV PVC (drain waste vent, or in common language, downpipe) it is most likely U-PVC (unplasticised). It has a maxi
