  1. Bursting is definitely what DP was all about, hit warp speed before anyone else even got rolling

  2. We had a great race. Nailed a good start going with masthead genny when others held back, seeing that the wind would shift aft well aft before motuhie. Ended up in just behind Rogue 2 and a couple of cruising division big boats. Held our spot across to navy buoy then a smoking reach across to the noisies under masthead then 3/4 kite to take the lead of the whole fleet which we held until almost home bay motutapu. then a ten mile beat to windward in a wind against tide chop and we could do nought but watch big-boat after big-boat pass us. we finished 1st in line in our divis

  3. We have owned General Jackson for around 3 years in Tauranga, a Compass built GRP Farr 38. I was unsure if we (wife and I) could handle such a large yacht but it has been a great boat so far. We club race it, cruise it and fish off it, what a well set up boat it has turned out to be for us to enjoy. The boat was formerly Jenny G, a well known yacht raced in the Auckland area for several years by Alan Gibbs with the name derived from his wife. It was extensively renovated after changing ownership into the state it is now, focussed on extended cruising from which we have benefitted from!

  4. We had a really fun day on the Rogue II. Was a voyage of discovery for us learning what makes the boat go and what sails we actually have. No idea of the sail crossovers as we hoisted 2 old gennakers we had never seen and a new code zero that we had only checked to see if it fitted so the reach down to the noiseys was a bit painful changing between gennakers and code zero to find something that worked. The guys who had decent small flat gennakers made good gains on this leg. Watched Phil on the deep purple blast past us on that leg like we were standing still! They looked fantastic and rounded

  5. Haha. Yeah well it was actually attached but the Martin Breaker…..broke….as we were hoisting. Then it went again after it was reattached. I have just been down to WH on a very chilly Sunday morning to fix it. A bit annoying but fortunately for us we didn’t lose much as the breeze was pretty light. All these things are newly installed so we are still figuring things out. All in all a pretty nice day out on Kaizen.

  6. I did see a boat hoist without the tack attached, someone that posts here from time to time, a boat that’s fairly new to NZ, orange, Asian name. But I’d never tell tails out of school
