  2. What is it about launchies and generators? Anchored in Bon Accord last weekend, a launch anchored about 50m away and as soon as main engines off, it's generator on until his bed time. Then in the morning, routine is wake up, generator on, left on until anchor up. Have these guys never heard of batteries? Another time a launch anchored about 20m upwind of me, started his generator and then the whole crew went across to a neighbouring boat for the evening. They just seem oblivious to the nuisance they create

  5. I agree with the leaned gentlemen above. With an overlapper it is far simpler to use a lazy sheet though either an aft spinnaker turning block, or possibly BMax on a wider boat - possibly not a Spencer 10m. That way the sheet is triangulating nicely and all of a sudden your pole is a perfect length. Don't cut it as one day the spinnaker will be used. If just using a blade a whisker pole on the genoa sheets is fine but a lazy sheet is still better. You can get cheap tubes from Kilwell and use your current end fittings if you want another project.

  6. Hosking on ZB reckons cyclone a bit of a non event, schools should not have closed, and is asking Hipkins is it really justifiable to close the country's biggest city again....

  7. Some weather stations are DIY efforts, they may not be accurate for the area due to local interference so you have to look at a few to get an overview

  8. Well it stil goes against the advice to Aucklanders to stay home...you are hardly staying home if you are on a private vehicle trying to get across the bridge...to do what? As I say, Emergency services, of course. Private vehicles should not be out there -- a sudden gust, a truck flips...why risk it?

  9. Not particularly high winds at the bridge right now. I’m sure they will close it again when the wind crosses their threshold
