I use the Spinlock 3 hook tether -https://www.spinlock.co.uk/en/categories/safety-lines/product_groups/performance-safety-lines The new clips are lighter and much easier to use one handed Yes they are expensive, however I trust my life to them NOTE - they also carry a warning regarding lateral loads Regards Dr Dave

Thank you for starting BP For a bit of context - my post I will only clip onto a "jackline" on deck. Also beware of lateral loads There are a number of incidents where people have come to grief attaching to stays or bollards See https://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/200975/Tether-hook-angle-was-crucial-factor-in-death Regards Dr Dave

Should we start a new thread as it is an important area? Cheers Dave

HI, good guy, I met him once. Early pioneer for NZ solo sailing I seem to remember he came unstuck off East cape. He clipped onto backstay and when the boat rolled he went up the rig, once he landed on deck he broke a leg, required rescuing Good lesson Cheers Dr Dave

Thank you Wally Yes she is a great boat. I owned her for 7 years and gave her a complete renovation when I bought her -including new rudder, prod, complete repaint, rewired, replumbed, park bench boom, removed traveller etc. etc The current owner similarly did a lot to her - removed teak decks and lots of other things She is a great load carrier and surprisingly quick - Phil won the Coastal in her I hope you enjoy her as much as we did Cheers Dave
