Wireless Wind Gear, and Computers (Weather Routing and Expedition) is all very exciting. Thanks to Gappy from Nexus (Kiwi Yachting) we are one of the first to use this gear on a Canting/Rotating Mast. This certainly brings the focus of the boat back to what I originally bought it for. To have fun round the harbour but to try to do well in the Coastal.

Have put some new tips on the foils, much more like what is on Groupama 2! The Prod and Mast have had their final Undercoat, hope to have Top coated later in the week.

They are glassed on, so they don't crack, they need a cove on the inside, and are heavily rounded on the outside to reduce drag. Also bear in mind if the boat dries out, all the weight is on these tips.

BTW the tips in the photo are totally wrong. The deepest part needs to be at the back, not the front. So I will have to grind those one's off and have a better go at it.

You are spot on Dean. In the light we will pull the boards up, but leave a gap between the Tip and the hull of at least 50mm, i.e. 50mm of the Curved foil plus the tip is in the water at all times. That is the same with G3, their tips are always in the water as well. By way of perspective though, the Tips are only 6mm thick, and 100mm deep, so really there is very little drag there, at all.

First Photo shows the Carbon Cage with the CNC'd plastic bearings installed. Many thanks to Russell of Absolute CNC for those ! Other two photos are of the Curved foil tips, glued on. The Tips are to prevent an equalisation of pressure at the end of the curved foil. The Tip of the curved foil is the closest to horizontal and is therefore providing the most lift, much of this lift is negated if the pressure escapes around the end. The big disadvantage of these tips is that the foil needs to be installed from the underside, up, which can cause big issues if you are in very shallow water a

Wolfy likes his new home at Westhaven. He is very happy to be back in the water. He motored briskly around from Okahu Bay, floating to his lines, and handled the Various wakes thrown at him with ease.

Phone calls from irate observer(s) wanting to see launching. Sorry I had to put it off until tomorrow (Thurs) morning. Lets see if Timberwolf fits in his new berth !

What is really cool about the new boom is that the Top rail perfectly matches the reverse sheer of the new amas. We are launching on Wednesday morning (without the rig in). Most likely not ready to sail by Easter but have already entered the Winter series that starts on April 30th.

New boom needs a little bit more work. Its not quite as light as its disastrous predecessor but its just so much stronger and stiffer due to some well placed High Modulus Carbon.. this one is not going to break !

If you get the chance, check out the surface finish of the Antifoul. don't try to tell me you could get it that smooth with a foam roller. It is just fantastic, thank you so much Jason, the finish is awesome!

WOW ! Jason Sager has just finished the antifouling. He used Micron 66 and gave the Middle hull an extra lick as well as two coats on the amas. Jason, Thank you very much ! You are a true Multihull legend (talking about your Antifoul Painting here, Jase, not your sailing ability!)

Thank you very much to the 10 helpers we had last night to put the Wolf back together. I am very grateful for all of the assistance we have received over the past few months. It will be great to finally get the Wolf back on the water and sailing. Shortly I will be putting in our entry for the Squaddy winter series which starts on April 30th.

The main hull has to prove its worth to have any work done on it !

Squid should give a prize for the first online photo of the completed graphics. Should be happening today. I just can't wait to see it! a much different look to before.

Maybe things have changed. A High Modulus strain may be as low as .9%, but we are happy to go higher than that in Standard Modulus (to at least 1.6%) which is the Carbon used on our beams.

    timberwolf

I'm not 100% certain that the old beams are up to it, in theory they should be good to see 9 tonnes of load, and we shouldn't ever see much over half that, the only unknown is what sort of a state they are in (i.e, are they as good as the day they were built). The sockets and the bulkheads to the new amas are like a brick. But if they aren't up to it, its gonna be spectacular!

New rig not really part of the plan as such. I thought about lengthening it and adding a bit in to the sails. But it means new halyards, stays etc. Its quite a lot of work. So I thought if someone wanted the current mast then a new mast is not actually that much extra work than doing the above. The Sl 33 Cat has an 18.5 metre mast, so Dan and Us at only 13.5 metres are just Pussies ! Charleston has the right idea at 14.5 metres and are a lot lighter than we are! Plus the curved foils should mean we can handle more Power
