Hi all
I have a Whiting 26 Quarter Tonner named "Sweathog" moored at Little Bucklands Beach in Auckland. I used to race but am in chilled out cruising mode now! I often have space for a few extra crew.
I run regular weekend day sails operating from Bucklands Beach.
Overnight trips are also an option if people are keen.
If you are interested in finding out more, please message me your email address & mobile number.
Thanks
Ian

Multi story apartments to help with the housing crisis?
So what travel lift options does that leave for yachties in Auckland now?
- Gulf Harbour Marina
- Hobsonville Marina
- Orams (does Orams allow owners to work on their boats?)
Does Pine Harbour or Bucklands have travel lifts?
Bucklands Beach has 2 travel lifts at Half Moon Bay. I have used their hard stand for the past 5 years. Great service!

We have all of our insurance with BNZ underwritten by IAG. All means house, contents, 2 cars, Cavalier 26 keeler, inflatable RIB, RIB trailer & 2 outboards. We have had 5 keelers over the years insured with them including a full $15K right off after the boat slipped her mooring and a couple of other marine claims including theft. We have also had 2 burglaries at home & several car dings. All paid out without any fuss. Some of this may of course be that we have so much cover with them.

I got a brand new main for my Cavalier 26 approx 3 years ago through Brent Gillies at BG Sails in East Tamaki, Auckland. He outsourced it to Hydes in London who I believe have their loft in the Phillipines. I received a fantastic sail with awesome stitching which is still going strong and still looks like new several years later for approx 2 thirds of the price quoted in NZ.

Thanks Lindsay! That's her Pam. Hope that helps Fiona 😀 Cheers Ian

Not exactly in the vicinity of the Bay of Islands but there is a couple who restore old wooden boats at Whangateau near Leigh. Can't remember their names or the name of their business at the present time but I have met them and have seen the awesome work that they do. Maybe ask Sandspit Yacht Club or Lees Boatbuilders for a lead. Cheers Ian

We saw 3 Coastguard vessels heading out one behind the other on the same day & around the same time as posted above. One turned back shortly after so I am guessing it was the same boat as this one in distress poor people!

Hi Kate. I replied to you via email 18th November but don't appear to have received a reply. Can you please reply to iangabriel1968@gmail.com even if you are not interested in sailing with us?
Many thanks

Hi Laura
Thanks for your post. I have a Cavalier 26 moored at Bucklands Beach in Auckland. I work full time but sail most weekends. Generally they are day sails but we go out on both a Saturday & Sunday weather permitting. We will do an overnight if people are keen. Some of your dates match mine as I generally take 3 weeks leave around Christmas time & either go away for a full period of time or divide the time up into shorter trips depending on crew availability. As a result trips various but in the past we have completed coastal passages to Bay of Islands, Great Barrier Islands, Coromandel & some of the islands around Auckland including Waiheke to name a few.
I also have a trip scheduled for Labour Weekend. This however hinges on Auckland's current Level 3 lockdown. I can sail at the moment but can't take crew so looking forward to hopefully going to Level 2 despite the dismal case levels at the mo!
Please get in touch if you would like to find out more. I have a crew information email & a link to my interactive crew spreadsheet.
Cheers

When was this. HMC have only recently picked this up. When i was getting the hull painted in May they had only applied cc to 2 boats
Morning BP Thanks for the referral to HMC. I emailed them last night & Richard rang me this morning. He was very helpful & discussed application techniques. He is going to send me a quote through.

I had a shocking experience with the official applicator and ended up redoing a lot myself. But that is not a reflection on the product.
I believe they are now defunct. I would simply do it myself next time, but if you are allergic to epoxy I would trust HMC.
Great thanks for the tip BP
