Best thing would have been to confirm Auckland at the end of the last cup and built on the momentum plus giving confidence to set a campaign around.
Not a good way to get anyone to commit when not even the host club knows what’s going to happen

Probably canceled by the looks unless something radical happens.
How do you plans anything in this environment, end of October seemed a long way ahead, over two months when we set the date, who would have thought you still can go racing. We had a loose plan of running a rum race with prize giving after with say Hard Labour inviting out of town 1020s crews to sail together etc. more a social event. But even trying to organise this is a stab in the dark at this point.
Now we are even worried about the Evolution Northern Triangle, seeing as it sails into 3 regions.

Talk is possible delay until end of March ish
Things have to change before we can run the Delta race
Now just hoping this madness doesn’t effect the Evolution Northern Triangle

I was out in the firth on Wednesday and they should have used waterproof paint as you can’t see the line.
But on a serious not there was lots of Akl based boats fishing the farms on the coromandel side

SSANZ has an announcement about an announcement for Lewmar Race Delta!
We want to run this race but right now we don’t rate our chances. In the current Level 3 - Step 1 environment- it wouldn’t be possible to run this race. It may be possible at step 2 or step 3 but the rules keep changing so we can’t say for certain if we could.
What we do know is to run the race safely and the way we would want to we need - at minimum:
- Entered yachts to have two skippers from two different bubbles allowed
- Both skippers to be allowed below decks - for safety reasons
- A race management bubble (with multiple bubbles included)
- A few other things on top of this - but you get the idea!So for now this is our plan
- We will make an announcement at 11:59am on Tuesday 26th October - confirming if based on whatever rules are in place then we can run Race Delta on Saturday 30th October
- you can continue to enter if you had a Lewmar Triple Series or Race 3 entry for free
- If you didn’t and need to enter and pay an entry fee - entries are on hold for you until Tuesday 26th October at 12:00pm - if we can race will open this up again for 48 hours and you can enter and pay then.We appreciate everyone is mad keen to go for a sail and love the racing that we do - and we want to run the race if we can - but we also wanted to let you know our current thinking so your in the loop!
Stay safe, wear a mask, get vaccinated, go for a day cruise and fingers crossed we can go racing on Saturday 30th October thanks to our mates at Lewmar, Baltic Lifejackets, Doyle Sails, PIC Insurance Brokers and Kiwi Yachting

Nice carbon rig mate

Looking at all the above
Biggest problem is as the rules change daily no one including YNZ can give any advice with any reliability
Its going to come down to making a decision in the week prior I’m thinking
Hope this is helpful, but probably not much

All of you above have a different read of the situation
Think about how hard this is to know what’s the go, for us that are trying to make this happen, rules changing by the day
My take at present is we are going to end up in a situation where most can’t but a few can race, and nearly impossible race management. With very little if not no vision into the future.
Fortunately for us there’s a big event supposedly happening the weekend before that will hopefully open or maybe close the door on this event.

Also not sure about how we can do race management without adopting the rest of the team ?
Fingers crossed this is only the first step

Yep but the officials here will count the time from the Zarpe issue date and time

Get crew on board - depart berth and anchor off for 5 days to ensure everyone OK. If not go back in. If yes up anchor and depart for real?
Once you anchor before leaving territorial water you have returned and then need to clear out again. I may have done this lots of time to avoid bad weather, stop at an amazing atoll or avoid clearing out on a weekend/wait for Monday or I may not have. But officially it’s not allowed and I wouldn’t want to get caught doing it in either Aus or NZ

Ha. Wow throw him under the bus why don't you Jon!!
We were talking about it yesterday and he decided 10pm wasn’t late enough so I said change it to 1159 pm
He’s now saying it’s a typo
I think it’s already corrected

Neil’s good, but like most IT guys sometimes misses the obvious
-
Yep, which way ?
You thinking it’s too short ?
Its designed to be a one off day race, if the weathers looking too light we will drop a mark or sail the short course.
If you want something a bit longer then start planning on the RNI 2023, only 17months away, will be limited and sell out in minutes. So anyone that’s serious will be planning now.

Big project for someone
looks like buying it will be the cheapest thing the new owner ever does
No jab - no racing?

We need some leadership from the Cindy kindy which makes it legal to ask for proof of vax and exclude people or not as per there vaccination status.
Then we can organise events with some kind of structure to base them around.
I know you don’t need to say “Tell him he’s dreaming”
