  2. Hi I’m lake based hence one has to wade ashore to tie off to the beach, lake is currently 13C. These look like they may be useful, wet weather and going ashore, winching boat on trailer etc. Any one used them? https://m.aliexpress.com/item/1005002083666682.html?spm=a2g0n.detail.1000014.5.178fXDWBXDWBdN&gps-id=platformRecommendH5&scm=1007.40000.326746.0&scm_id=1007.40000.326746.0&scm-url=1007.40000.326746.0&pvid=d309e3b5-ffba-43a0-99e7-93db9d8ac5d5&_t=gps-id:platformRecommendH5,scm-url:1007.40000.326746.0,pvid:d309e3b5-ffba-43a0-99e7-93db9d8ac5d5,tpp_buckets:668%
  3. I remember at the time of the Rena grounding looking for information about the impacts of that sinking-there must have been some? Didn’t find any at the time.

  5. How many got the Emergency Molbile Alert at 6.17. .? Two out of 2 here
  6. It was only a coastal advisory, not a tsunami warning. Having said that I don't think the difference is very well communicated.
  7. Have cycled thru soaking in laundry powder for 2-3 days, scrubbing with brush an rinsing…. Then repeating the cycle. It is working well. Avoided buying new washing machine 😉
  8. The ones under your seat have cartridges in them?
  9. The national guidelines is 0.25 hp per foot, so minimum is around 6hp with a bit of safety margin. As mentioned above only long shaft work well on the back of a TY. Props can make a big difference… look for a displacement or sail drive one
  10. In prep for winter I have pulled a few of the more dirty halyards and other mast lines. What is the 'preferred' approach/method to clean these ? Started with a week of soaking in Nappy San and Algicide (pool cleaner). It would appear you do not put them in a washing machine ! Thanks
  11. Hi At some stage in the past the mast track extrusion has been modified for a bolt rope. I'm running slugs and miss the bottom foot or so of track. When lowered top of sail is above my head, hard to reach halyard, put on sail cover etc. I'd like to re-establish the bottom piece of track. Does anyone recognise the section, who may have been mast builder? Google brings up Sparloft but the sections are nothing like this. This is on a N 30/Farr 940. I'd be after 3-400 mm of extrusion. (Sorry about out of focus image (didn't realise until I down loaded it.)
  12. Good call, looks like you may have already found the Rotorua Lakes….
  13. Starting to bunch up now…200 +/- nm to go.

  17. Yes there are house buses around towing trailer yachts. If you do your NZ tour tag Rotorua, Lake Rotoiti for a look at OkawaBay. 105 trailer yachts in the compound there. Some owned by bus owners.
