  1. The tsunami guys are out to capture any experiences from the coastal arrivals last Friday. If you were out and about you may like to complete the online survey. Did you see any of the tidal surges, currents, unusual tides etc https://www.geonet.org.nz/news/2SEHsNpMPFY7LyLkduIPNJ The observations about lower tides in the Manukau Harbour for example would be good to have. Thanks
  2. That will be a result of the bathymetry and physics of the calcs used. Note its less than 30 cm, not no surge.
  3. Hi KM No 1 - Is that from the 1st rattle at 2:30am +/- or something else? If from the 1st shack why only East cape do you think, I'd have expected Northland and Barrier to have twitched as well. Most of that is actually the ground going up and down with the quake, hence appearing as water level changes. Note the high frequency No 2 - Below those are the signs you mention as now arriving? On the Barrier one the wiggle goes left a far bit, would that be smaller waves arriving from the 1st rattle? Yes that's the long period signals starting to arrive about 40 cm No 3 -
  4. Arrivals starting to show at North Cape and Barrier ...
  5. DOC have staff on Raoul Island, but they are not on site at present, so there is no one. The links to Raoul have gone down, hence no data showing here: https://www.geonet.org.nz/tsunami Maybe a hint of something at Barrier
  6. A second large event in the Kermadecs .. it may create some coastal issues. Take a peek here to see if there is any activity on the tsunami gages; https://www.geonet.org.nz/tsunami
  7. Amongst other maintenance I'm wanting to do the zinc on the saildrive (SD20). I have Bri-Ski folding prop, got the blades off ok. Got the lock bolt out as well .. was going so well. I have a socket on the retaining nut and all I can do is turn the motor over. So jambed that up and now all I'm doing is moving the whole saildrive a inch or two, lots of elasticity in the system. How does one remove the elasticity to get the nut undone ?
  8. Hi I maybe in need of a new prop for a Farr940 (N30) fitted with 2GM15 and SD20 sail drive. I noticed your offer to quote for replacements.

Currently a BriSki 15-11 is fitted. I'd be interested in my options.

    Thanks

Recommended is 15 x 11 LH geared folder, I base this on a Noelex 30 weight which is pretty light for a 30'

$2065.00 plus gst  021 703718 This should give full revs 3600 if the engine is still healthy (check the exhaust elbow for blockage)

      Cheers

Many thanks, at least I have the correct size. What brand is the replacement your offering.

Yes boat weighs a bit over 2ton.

I assume I can visually check the elbow by removing the exhaust pipe and looking into the elbow.

      Thanks

  13. Checked the water strainer on Friday night, had some weed in it...resetting the top an bang it breaks (long weekend pending). Quick trip to Tauranga on Saturday morning, unfortunately the replacement from a marine shop is not much better, leaks air due to substandard plastics moulding of the thread etc. Now have time to obtain a better (quality) unit. What are the quality units, design, suppliers... Thanks
  14. Thanks for the success stories and advice. Should have mentioned I'm just after knowing depth for anchoring and when to be cautious (ie under 20-30ft). Just for the record here is the manufacturer instructions.
  15. Looking at using a bullet transducer as a thru hull instalation; what is the best adhesive to use? Epoxy or is there another option ? The hull is solid glass, no core. Im aware of the signal loss issues. Thanks
  16. The sailing instructions are now available here: https://www.boptys.net/regattas Looking forward to seeing theses guys n girls on the lake.
  17. Where the two lines meet you could put a block there and have the deck-winch line run through it to get 2:1 into the system.
  18. Best modification you can make for a trailer yacht is get high thrust prop.
  19. Work from the inside...... take lots of photos .
