  1. I did a pull down test on WT after I got my ORC cert a few years back. I couldn’t believe the stability figures I was given and since I was about to do a new rig I wanted realistic numbers. I took the boat over to the super yacht berths at GH, found an empty one and tipped the boat over there. I had a loop around the mast tube at the hounds where the rig was well supported, and a 6:1 purchase and a load cell attached to the dock. Getting to 35° was easy done. Most normal type yachts reach RM MAX at about 60deg and that’s when you have a bit of load on, so as soon as you see the load cell load
  2. Probably no quicker than the original, but a lot lighter and easier.
  3. Yeah, the Young is still hanging out in the back yard. Just building a tent over her so the real work can begin! The Townson goes for it's first sail in the morning... Should be a little machine!
  4. Project finished. The original plan didn't include carbon spars or fibre-lay sails but Des would probably be sweet with it.... Probably.....

At least with composite amas (regardless of weight) there's 66% less chance of Timberwolf retaining the nicname 'WoodenDog' Sorry

Its not the ideal time to be making comments such as these. Fair call, and I know how you feel as I've been there with my GBE. Just fix it up and carry on. At least not being on your boat at the time, you escape with only material damage and no long term worries about pushing the boat hard again. But the chance of having a swim at some point is high. To argue that it's never going to happen is a bit unrealistic. Much like racing motorbikes and being completely confident about not falling off. Which is possible, if you're slow and safe, or very very talented. Take Rossi for example. TW

We could have a thread where people can post pictures of their upside down multi. I've got a nice sequence on mine coming back up! It's pretty much a fact of racing a raft. At some point you're going to flip it.
  8. I'm in the process of getting the Townson 2.4 dinghy back into working order and would like replace the rig and sails. The ones I have are obviously not to the original plan. If anyone has a sail plan drawing I could get some measurements from, this would make life a lot easier. Normally Allan Hooper would be the man, but he's in OZ currently and doesn't have access to his records for the boat. Anyone able to help?
