  1. I remember Lachie explaining to me that the inaccessible void between the two cockpit floors is where the boats love is kept. There used to be a small gap, but an actual rat climbed in there and died. So they sealed the gap and contained the smell. Can’t wait to lift that floor….. I only remember this because as soon as he’d finished the story, a very drunk Paul (Danger Mouse) who was staring at Lachies hot new girlfriend during the whole story, without breaking eye contact with her he threw up on her lap.
  2. Yes, the mighty Ratz. She's always been my favorite Piedy, mainly because she was built to plan and hasn't had the cabin or shear lines messed with. She's also a quick hull with a good rig. Everything else is replaceable.
  3. It’s a reasonably well-known boat, and it was Cheap! When I’ve got her safely in the backyard I’ll post some pics.
  4. Ha ha! In a moment of stupidity I bought a new project boat. Wild Thing is going to have a sibling to play with!
  5. Jolly boats are great! I added more cruising rubbish to poor Wild Thing over the weekend. Fold out carbon cruising tables, Anchor bowsprit, sink plumbing etc. Need to do some squabs now...... I guess I should do a curtain for the toilet also. It's a very 'social' installation at the moment.
  6. Put the rig back in WT this evening and caught up with the Public Image guys just in from giving their bum a clean. Weiti is a neat place to be on a summers evening.
  7. Will have to infiltrate Pete's shed next week..... Don't move and change too much, Pete will never find anything!
  8. We draw just a scratch over 2.1m. We were in there about an hour before high on Sunday with the aim to be out again on slack water. Just before high, we had 0.6m directly under the gantry, so no issues there. You just have to be careful getting the boat in position. Avoiding the ramp is the main thing. If you swing around in front of the club, and pass over the ramp you lose 0.5m and park up! If we hadn’t gone over the ramp we would have been fine!
  9. I was surprised how much water we had on the way in actually. We were navigating off an iphone 5, and we were amazed how true their chart was. Bang on the whole way in. never had less than a meter under the keel. Only had issues right up next to the gantry. No Mk2 rig though, just a few tweaks before Christmas/Bay week. Want some more adjustment in the deck collar, so that has a date with the router this week also.
  10. Pulled the rig on WT yesterday, pretty straight forward using the Weiti gantry crane. Although we’re a bit marginal for draft on the approach to the Weiti wharf. Managed to anchor ourselves with the bulb in the mud, so a bit of hanging off stays etc to get her moving again. But all in all a pretty easy process, an hour start to finish. Very fortunate to have a setup like that down at Weiti, A job like that would have been a nightmare downtown. Better pay my subs again!
  11. Made a raised planter box for my vege garden this afternoon. Got the old manual posthole borer out and swung off than for a while, dropped a few posts and nailed planks around the sides. Will get the crop down during the week i'm thinking.
  12. Make hay on that result, it's not going to happen again! Nice work though, you guys sailed a better than usual race, and we made a meal out of everything we did!
  13. There are a few Wild Things about the place. I think there's a Wild Thing II in Pine Harbour also. My Wild Thing i'm pretty sure is WT1, She's had the same name from 1988. We could have a Wild Thing family reunion.....
  14. Launched Wild Thing on Friday, then sailed her down to Westhaven this evening. She feels good! Quite different to the WT of old....
  15. Nope, we were all about action, hot chicks and AK47's. Had our 1st round screening last night and somehow managed to aquire viewers choice award! Pretty good weekend all in all. But more importantly, WT got her bum sanded and gained 2 coats of antifoul
  16. It will be on youtube eventually, although before the competition is judged we can't release or show any of the film
  17. Did the 48hr film festival with the 'View Masters' team. Busy weekend! But got our film in by cutoff time. Looking forward to release night!
  18. Bonded on spreaders, filled and painted the new rig this weekend. One step closer to the big day.....
  19. I took the tent off WT. First time I've been able to stand back and look in quite a while. Pretty happy with the way she's turned out.
  20. The 3 Baker brothers re-launched their Young 8.4 at Weiti over the weekend. Looks pretty good, and given their reputations as top dinghy sailors, no doubt they'll be a tough edition to the Weiti fleet.
  21. Laminated the new mast tube for WT, cooked and released that, laminated another mast tube for a mates 26ft IRC boat bound for France, then stuck another mast back together. So pretty much spend 3 days sticking on and rubbing down prepreg. Just like in the old days....
  22. I kept on with sanding the inside of WT, then when I was totally sick of sanding I stuck some deck gear on. Feels like this project is going on a bit now!
