  1. Yep. And I'd even settle for just tying it on...maybe to the bowman next time... haha
  2. Yep obviously we are not that hopeful - we figure the best case scenario is probably having to bid to buy it back off a fisho on Trademe! The good news, thanks to the generosity of another member of the R40 brotherhood (Smithy off Marshall Law), we do now have a backup option for the Coastal. And working on a replacement pole. I had seen the story about the Southerns pole that turned up a few months back - amazing coincidence...
  3. We lost our carbon kite pole overboard near Motiuhe Island around 1pm on Saturday 10 October during the Gold Cup race. It's off a Ross 40, clear coated black, around 5.5m long. Yes it was bungeed on but clearly not well enough. Would very much like it back if anyone sees or hears of it turning up - we don't know how long it would have floated for. Thanks

    SSANZ 100

I guess we all like seeing what was going on on other boats so here's our SSANZ 100 2015 Report: ---------------------- Provincial Cowboy Longhaul 1. It was always going to be a day of squalls and gusty conditions, forecast to slowly drop from mid afternoon. Slightly late and at the boat end at the start after a minor cluster. However we were in the mix going nicely with the A4 a few hundred metres down by Browns Island when the sounds of the carnage reached us from upwind, as the squall ripped through. Survived the first gust that took out a few and we started to accelerate
  5. Entered. Courses look great. Tides for race 1, not so good - will be an early start and maybe a very late finish at HMB Marina for us. Need shorter keel! Dear SSANZ. Would it be possible to put all the sailor names and the PHRF for each boat on the entry page, so we know who we are out racing with. Thanks Looking forward to another great series.
  6. We would be keen to do this race sometime but as mentioned above Easter just doesn't work for us (and many many others I suspect) bacause it's been our last family cruising weekend away for the last few years. We would be happy with late April/May (avoid the SSANZ Anzac race). November is busy and December is manic for non-sailing reasons. If a long weekend is required, what about Queens Birthday weekend?
  7. Yes we have been watching it for the couple of days since Metvuw came within range and it hasn't improved. Still a while to go yet but not looking ideal, even If there was to be a later start time. Won't stop doing the boat prep jobs yet tho! [edit: looking a bit better in the last update]
  8. All fixed. The RAYC folks have had a few details to work through, trying to coordinate with events at both ends! Edit: Our loose plan [Provincial Cowboy R40] is do the race then ship in some mates to do the Nelson race and the three local regattas (Nelson, Waikawa and Wellington) before the boat comes back to Auckland. Plus some Sounds/Abel Tasman cruising. Pretty sure we can put a crew together for each event!
  9. 'Goad' not 'goat' surely. Anyway, we can't let that comment go unanswered! Provincial Cowboy is planning to race unless it looks like being boat damaging conditions. Looking forward to it.
