    Tool Kit

Hi As always it is difficult to keep unnecessary gear out of the boat for racing trim purposes while still complying with Category requirements. What is the minimum tool kit you carry and why? What is your mustn't leave behind and cannot do without? How, in what, why and where do you store your tool kit? Completely redoing ours in for Cat 3/2 and wondering what others do cheers

  4. this is the basic driver .... General duty to avoid adverse effects - Sec 17 of the RMA Section 17 of the RMA provides that every person has a duty to avoid, remedy, or mitigate adverse effects on the environment. Section 17 is not enforceable in and of itself (refer s17(2)), but can provide a basis for seeking an enforcement order or issuing an abatement notice. As outlined by the Court in Sayers v Western Bay of Plenty District Council [1992] AO98/92, an enforcement order or abatement notice may require a person to cease, or prohibit a person commencing, anything that is
  5. Sorry IT must be tired - you are right....so must have voice sat comms? technology marching along. Iridium go handset cost plus plan approximates in NZ dollars?
  6. Unfortunately, potentially ...yes... as the club is then the PCBU "person conducting business or undertaking" and if the hardstand is leased/ operated by the club then the club must take all reasonable steps to protect the safety of any user.....this includes working at heights etc....becomes very onerous for staff, committee members, board members etc. Furthermore, if the club is charging a fee to use its cradles or renting hardstand space then it is responsible if a user falls off a boat and the club has not taken :"...all reasonable steps".. to protect the users safety! this would co

If the regular antenna depends upon the mast, an emergency antenna must be provided. For new installations minimum power of 100 watts is mandatory. Altex Fail

Altex number five is a soft ablative antifoul...your boat needs to be used as it wears or erodes in use. If your boat is stationary all the time, in no current and little water movement it won't self clean. It isn't a good idea to wipe number 5 down either as you wipe the layer off which does the work...you will shorten its functional life considerably. If you want an antifoul that is then cleaned regularly by diver or other means then you need to move something harder.

Vic...where did you buy your number 5?
  12. Tp22 does nmea0183 and simNet (nmea2000) too
  13. I have a Simrad TP22 that is not set up via nmea to plotter or wind I.e. It will only steer to course I use mine all the time, although my boat is lighter than yours Arpad. I wouldn't be without mine now...it just gives me so many options to do other things while the boat is going from A to B. I am always very aware of balance when getting it to work comfortably for longish periods to ensure it doesn't flog itself to death. Although, I did get caught out the other day under full main and masthead gennaker when the breeze built progressively over the afternoon and the boat jumped onto the pl
  14. Interesting discussion re Cat 1...also intriguing given a current YNZ inspector recently put his boat into Cat 1 and is away cruising this season. He went through the process and was extremely grateful he had a second YNZ inspector undertake the Cat 1 check...despite having circa 160,000nms of experience. Personally, I found the Cat 3 inspection really helpful. Specifically, the guidance provided by the inspector which was hard earnt and latterly proved by me personally.
  15. Funny comments, that is not my experience with Gill at all.
  16. Lifejacket cylinders at 33gms are classified as DG's...you shouldn't courier them without the right paperwork...off the top of my head I think they are Class III.

    Toaster ss mesh

Secret with the dixon is to get it hot first(element),then wind it back down on a small ring before you put desired bread on too toast.Element when hot will toast far more evenly.
  19. Thanks to Dave, Becs, Angus, Sally and Suellen for the great course today. Great tempo, context and content. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to improve and better understand appropriate first response and patient management where help isn't necessarily available.
  20. Nicely put steadfast...far too much brainwashing going on in modern western capitalist democracies. Freedom of choice is key...and that freedom (or lack of) is a direct result of your previous choices.
  21. Smithy could this be cut down to fit my boat? Reason I ask is my twin foil which looks very similar is pretty tired and I haven't killed all my foil type headies....yet
