the trip that got away those trevally baby fijian giant trevally i think

finally got round to lifting the split ring on the top of capricorn's small lewmar 6 sheet winches only 10 years old so not expecting much wear but did find 1 of the 2 base pawls on the port winch wasn't springing out and engaging with the base ratchet wasn't gummed up with old hard grease the small spring in the middle of the pawl had broken fortunately sailor's corner at westhaven had a harken pawl spring in their box that was identical for $2.99

capricorn has 2 small flexible solar panel but unfortunately their top clear film seems to be dying from UV exposure using some clear vinyl sourced from vorpal blade have made a soft/clear flip back cover to hopefully save the actual solar cells, here shown half flipped back

the flexible solar panels have a thin plastic film cover that has been UV dying + peeling, using some clear vinyl from vorpal blade have cut out and screwed down, leading edge only, some extra protection for the cells -

before the tramps were made getting to the bow for sail changes, meant a dodgy scurry along the narrow boards alongside the cabin...............the crew referred to her as "the green death trap"
