  1. or... we scrap the B buoy all together and race whats on the map that we all have been looking at.... Just a thought...
  2. AND... have you checked the weather? We are making it really nice for everyone this weekend. Sunshine, light winds! Rum reaching conditions! Easing all of the newbies in to it! Really looking forward to it!
  3. Maaaaaaate!!!! Silly question... do we have any multis.... We got ONE! http://www.soloiq.org.nz/charlie-mckenzie/ You only need to complete 6 out of 9 races to be in to win! 2 weekends away (2 races each) Richmond YC - harbour race (no extras) and then you squeeze one race in somewhere along the line... (Suggestion Route 1) VOILA! You have done the series! And had 3 awesome parties!
  4. NOR http://www.pcc.org.nz/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Solo%20IQ%20Single%20Handed%20Series.pdf SI http://www.soloiq.org.nz/race-series/race-1/ See you out there weekend after next!
  5. Welcome back! Good to see you checking up on your boat yesterday. Westhaven kept her safe, although that guy in the berth next to yours.... Not sure about him. Something to do with having two "cruisers" either side of Cool Change. Slightly unnerving.... I like the profiles, gives you an idea of who you are lining up against and who you can shake your fist at at the end
  6. Your options are: -Jury rig -Motor and risk a protest -Just turn up at the finish in a car? (enter a series regardless, you get 3 drops) -Steal a boat (and rename it "Ross")
  7. Woohoo!!! Series is growing quite nicely now and there are new competitor profiles loaded on the website! How come that all these big boats are entering? Nothing smaller than a Y88 in extras division!!! (Not counting B&G Transat!) Welcome to the series to all new entrants! You are in for a treat!
  8. Thats the only way of slowing Ray down! (And taking all of the kites off of him!) As far as Andrew's gimp room goes.... Well, I dont want to say too much... I does have something to do with rum, single handed sailing and/or Durepox fumes... I have been told that he giggled like a girl when the image was taken... He has since almost nearly totaly fully recovered and plans on flying kites up wind! (His words...)
  9. And reaching you will be (for the rum of course!) ???? It will be good to see that blue bus out there! Good on you both! Competitor profiles are on soloiq.org.nz website!!!! More being loaded whenever our resident website guru (aka Cool Volunteer Change) gets a chance!
  10. For those not on Facebook... Cory's new boat. Transat 650. Will be making an apearance on the 10th for the first race She is looking mean! Lets hope for some nice downwind sailing so we can see what she is capable of!
  11. Aint that pretty! Not long to go now

Wild! Baltic 50 report What an awesome day on the water!!! Thanks to the organising committee and our sponsors. We started OK with the biggest small chute we had and seem to keep up with the fleet. After leaving it too late for a gybe by the light house and sticking too far out in the tide we managed to put a couple of nice spinnaker wraps around the forestay which cost us a little bit of time. By the time we got to the Noises we managed to claw back a bit of ground and get a jump on Yotosaurus and Moehau II in a first up wind leg. At the Sargents channel wind picked up and we contempl

Awesome! Thanks Josh. See you there
  14. The Opening Weekend Every competitor who has entered the series, and who competes in the first race, will be presented with a limited edition Solo IQ Series technical shirt. The BBQ on the night of the 10th is complementary and Aon have sponsored a limited happy hour at Yogis Bar. Fairway Bay Marina is a great social venue, not to far out of town so that friends and family can drive up, have a tipple or two, stay on the yacht and not have to worry about driving home. A cafe right on the marina doorstep, that I believe serves a mean breakfast the next morning and a local farmers market that
  15. Seems like things are winding up quite nicely on this solo challenge front! Only 5 weeks to go!!!
  16. Imagine Communique Punny that! Two 9.2's in the same division I hear!!! And to even out the playing field, both have spent some money with the sponsors already!!! Good on you both!
  17. The way this is going we could end up calling this "H pier challenge"! How many people can we get to join us at the start line!!!! Now, everybody bring a buddy!!!! (Buddy needs to turn up on his own boat!)
  18. Suppose we dont need too bigger whip to get him along. He is only two boats over from you after all AND has to walk past my boat to get to his! Double whammy!!!!
  19. There was a bunch of guys that was talking about it not so long ago. I think you could get at least three or four more to join you up there if you spend some time topping up rum'n'coke (and repeating the subject each time you do) amongst the singlehanders. I will be out of the country for this BOI week but would be keen for next year. Taking a 727 up, racing and bringing it back single handed may prove to be a mission. But I like those!!!
  20. Well well well Here we go again!!! Little red tortoise will be there this year too! It would be nice to see a few more small boats out there! There is solo and than there is SOLO... All of the big boys bugger off quite quickly so it would be nice to have another small boat to go against!!!
  21. I think that Revolution Blues would smoke it up the coast! ...but I'm not so sure that I would commit a little 727 to that amount of beating though... Although, last R66 springs to mind... that was fun! (NOT!!!)
  22. I assume that if OSH was involved in those firefighting practises (exercises) they would take so long that all the joy of doing it would be taken out of it! Personal responsibility and common sense? Common sense ain't that common! Thats why we need OSH (or whatever they are called now) The story should go like this: Safety line??? What safety line? Is this knot not good enough? What do you mean i need my supervisor to check it? What do you mean my chief needs to check that supervisor has checked it??? Nevermind.... No need to go in now... People are DEAD....
  23. I thought it was clear that i was BEING STUPID!
  24. Cantabrians getting slightly lost and finding "fault lines" ???????????? He did keep a close eye on me during my clusterf@k after a jibe attempt that went on to a broach. Making sure all is going well. All that was going through my head was : Darn small boats! And people from landlocked countries that get on them ????
  25. What a race! Little old Wild! clocked max speed at 14.8kts running towards Crusoe. Pre startweather was looking good and Predictwind was saying that the wind will be mid teens and getting up to mid 20's I (foolishly) opted for a #2 thinking that it may give me a slight advantage after Rangi Lighthouse and at the bottom end of Motuihie.... Well.... What a f@k up! Start was bearable, clear air at the back of the fleet, than I was forced in to a tack with a big bus on starboard which turned out ok as i was making good speed up the chanel and by the time i tacked over to clear the lighthouse thi
