  1. I think VB means what i call a dog-bone...
  2. You could get a strop made with a ring at one end, and a dog-bone at the other end, poke the dog-bone through the cringle.... uncle bob!
  3. https://www.facebook.com/jaime.terradesvital/videos/10220225336133307/UzpfSTE2Mjg0NDM5NzExNTM4MToyNDYxNDk3ODcwNTgzMzQ0/ Wow!, I cant wait to see these foiling on the southern ocean....
  4. Sounds like its dropped a valve... you might be able to see which one with the tappet cover off, not that it helps you much out there. CG member?
  5. Apparently the guys at Wakespeed are working on a device such as this right now, how long until it gets to market could be another thing entirely. Their WS500 alternator reg is very good though. http://www.wakespeed.com/
  6. You could get a Vesper AIS and wifi it to a tablet, then you get your AIS overlaid onto your charts, even radar as well if you so desire. Timezero Iboat is just one of many charting apps, Inavx, Isailor Navionics etc etc Or you could use an android tablet to do the same, put OpenCpn on it, instead of buying a nice but expensive ipad app
  7. Someone caught some of it on video, hard to believe that Rosella was flipped over the marina finger... https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2019/08/wild-weather-hits-auckland-up-to-75-boats-damaged-at-westhaven-marina.html
  8. Crazy hey?, maybe it picked it up and dumped on the post thats part of the finger, looks like the finger has taken a hammering too, punctured the hull below the waterline... I dunno..
  9. The cat looks like Rosella, a waterline 1750, 2007 or so... nice boat, shame to see that happen to it

    Fastnet

Wizard didn't win the Fastnet, Maxi Edmond De Rothschild did in a record 1D4h2m26sec!
  11. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12256343 Marinetraffic has a Danish yacht called Gwendoline, its a beautiful 16m ketch, says it was in Kiribati, heading for Niue... pure speculation that its the same one mind you
  12. http://forums.sailinganarchy.com/index.php?/topic/209946-new-hugo-boss-spotted/ What a beast!
  13. Send him a PM via this site is what IT means I think, here is a link to KM's profile, use the "send me a message" button http://crew.org.nz/forum/index.php/user/3009-knot-me-maybe/
  14. If you were to get the 18v "Hole Hawg" version, there is a 12v charger as well. I don't know if the performance of the 18v version is comparable, but they do drill some huge holes with it, it looks grunty enough. Still $600 or so, but certainly a good way to get the main up if you're getting on in years
  15. Lets see if this works, these pics are from the book mentioned in the article in muzled's post above.
  16. Hi Dave, Yes we are the proud owners of Ladyhawk, and yes shes a great boat, but as Island Time mentioned, shes a whole different level of financial commitment, we sold everything we owned to buy her, including the house. She is 20 years old this year, and we paid 250k for her, but now we don't have a mortgage or owe any institutions any money lol. There's only her and a sister-ship called Overdrive that lives in Aussie, so obviously not a "production" boat. Richard Edlin designed and built Ladyhawk, his boat building skills are fantastic, beautifully finished boat, and built tough. Full offsh
  17. Looks like some sense wires for a bms going the terminals , but no signs of external large amp fusing... but hey without the full story its nothing but a guess...
  18. really gone wrong big-time, they look like Winston cells, CALB are blue or grey iirc. No matter what went wrong, aside from an internal short, the BMS hasn't done its job... looks expensive

Whats the best quality/value crimp tool and terminals available in NZ?
  21. and if its for a lithium battery, floating isn't needed, Charge to full and stop. Cycle the bank down to 80% DOD and recharge only when you have an opportunity or need. If your system is set up well, repeat 2000 +/- times…. But I fear were getting off topic...
  22. The maintenance panel isn't for your lithium is it?
