  1. Has anyone ever had a cockpit spray dodger (over companionway) made for a small yacht i.e. Trailer Sailer or similar size yacht? Curious to know roughly what the cost would be? Cheers.
  2. Yes an interesting subject. I too have taken crays over the years, but in recent years have turned away from it. I have always heard the older guys talking about the good ol days when crays were so dense around our coast you had to push all the small/medium ones aside to get to the big ones. They used to fill bag after bag as there was no limit at the time. I have kids now and I would love for them to have an opportunity to even see some crays one day. I do a lot of sea kayaking and it is literally like some type of skills test out there trying to dodge all the cray pots and lines! Ev
  3. Wow looked at a second Cat 7 today with a different interior layout and was like a completely different boat, felt relatively spacious!
  4. Hi, I am basically tossing up between a Catalina 7 & Noelex 25 and was curious as to the differences in the internal space of both and how they compare ie general size, headroom, berth size etc? Obviously the Noelex is a bit longer but does this equate to a larger cabin? Catalina 7 has ‘pop top’ not sure about Noelex? Cheers ????
  5. Cheers eruptn . Rotoiti will be first on the hit list once we get a craft.
  6. Awesome thanks KF. Yea may look at heading up for a look, will let you know if I do. Cheers
  7. Hey KF figured you would be of some assistance! Cheers mate, yeah the Cat 7 certainly fits our criteria and I reckon would more than do the job as you say. Yeah I am thinking we may end up looking for somewhere mid island around the lakes or Hamilton to store as that is where all of our initial sailing will be done (Lakes, Coromandel etc) so would reduce amount of towing time. What sort of costs are involved in storing in a secure yard? With trailers how do you go with the brakes? I assume they go under water during launch? I figure a braked double axle trailer is a good thing but just not
  8. Hi, I have been following this forum for a while and found it a great source of information in researching for our first yacht. In a nutshell I have spent my life in, on or under the water fishing, diving, kayaking, boating with some limited sailing etc and am at the point where I want to get a trailer sailer for family holidays, initially lakes, sheltered costal water etc. We are a family of four. I live in New Plymouth and that combined with several other factors has led me to a trailer sailer, keeler not an option at the moment. I have been looking at the Catalina 7 and they look like
