The sizes I have needed for repairs have always been in stock at "Bearing Supplies" so to avoid sizing errors, I dismantle, clean and inspect, measure myself and then go pick up the correct sleeves I need for the job. And sometimes it is not only diameter but sleeve length that needs to be considered, I like to eyeball the repair before committing $. Good luck with that rotten job.

But there is more to it than that... there is soft sandy land and there is also.... not soft sandy land with swaying palms and tropical breezes

They should have known, at least out of curtesy

Move along folks.... nothing to see here, just dropping off a couple of folk who want to clear NZ customs.. Shesh, a foreign warship close in NZ waters and no one will say why.... is it me or is this real odd?

Loctite 515....(Gasket eliminator) for flanges with uneven gaps up to 0.25mm But If the flange faces are very un-even and you may have gaps larger than 0.25mm, then you may need to use a thin cork gasket.

When you look at it, it is actually a design fault. As the yokes from the tiller wear on the clamp piece, the clamping force on the rudder stock reduces until it is loose and there is no clamping force on the rudder stock.. and the key is relied on as the sole positive drive mechanism.
-
Proper solution... Take rudder and clamp to a machine shop and ask then to spread the clamp say 3mm, fit a 2mm shim in the gap and tighten up Set up in a lathe and bore to about 4mm larger than the diameter you accurately measured. Machine up a stainless steel sleeve about a 2mm wall thickness and slot it just a whisker wider than the key Clean up the keyways... and make a new good fit key. Thoroughly clean and dry all components... oil free, and assemble the halves, and key onto the shaft using a little Loctite... Quick dirty solution... Dismantle and clea

Still in the 12.3 limit at my marina...

Could have been 150mm shorter but at least it is fitted now, rigging up the lines next. Plan is to add a grate at top and a boarding ladder in the near future

Have put one litre primer and two litres topcoat on the shopping list... I have a bit of effort ahead of me on some bright work that warrants several coats of a single pack varnish.

If it is a problem you really want to solve, then put a tee in the line near the anti syphon valve, with a cap. When leaving the boat and before closing the sea suction to the toilet, remove the cap, purge the line with fresh water then close the sea suction.... I do not do this, but I do purge the toilet with fresh water before closing up for a time

just how good is it from your experience?
-
Ooooo ....It will be expensive... but that is only an estimate.

I have seen those... I looked up Morbic when you first mentioned them... I just need a few minutes with drawings, a tape measure and inspiration fluid on my fore deck. Tell you what, when I have that sorted then maybe I let you know which one you need to build next...😏

Looking absolutely beautiful! Foot or so shorter and you would need to double security to keep me out... looks to be nearly the perfect tender for me. I will be keen to learn what the final bare hull weight comes in at.

This is the stuff I used from Lusty Blundel... not cheap and worth every penny

Yes, must have a good vent to prevent siphoning... the problem I inherited was the use of non sanitation hose, which for those who who do not know... can let odors through the hose wall. I my case it was extreme, wife made a point of "Fix it or else!"... and I would fully expect any other crew to mutiny.
-
I got me a new boat.... for the price of some paint, hose clamps, some sanitary hose...well she smells like a new boat with the sweet Linseed bouquet and no toilet odors...

Found the guide ..... YACHTING NEW ZEALAND Safety Regulations 2021 - 2024 Guess that makes... Yachting New Zealand Yacht Inspectors Manual November 2022 (Version 08) ..... somewhat worthless. Thanks for the help guys
-
Thanks Jon, that is the Phrase I recall from the past. Where do I find it? What confuses me now is in....Yachting New Zealand Yacht Inspectors Manual (Incorporating the Director’s Guidelines for the application of section 21 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994) January 2021 (Version 07) where it only states... c. Batteries must be secured in acid resistant boxes and ventilated, unless totally sealed gel, AGM or LiOn batteries are carried. Wiring should be neat and tidy and secured Hence my confusion....
