Try Matt at Neptunes gear. He is Navico agent and could have WP5000 lying around. 0221539176

Sure it hasn't just blown a fuse on output of controller?

I have a spare AC 42, Triton2 screen/controller, compass & linear drive (complete drop in backup  for my system), but I don't think it will drive  WP5000.

It would require an N2K backbone etc at least Days work to install. Not an 11th hour install. ($5K worth of gear)

Thank you, yes I did call Matt and he was far too busy for anything for another couple of months :))

AC42 would have driven it! Unfortunately I have not see your message in time so I ended up going with the NAC-3 kit.

The only thing I'm lacking is something to control it with. Would you consider selling the Triton2? Not sure if it can control the autopilot though...

  2. Our oldie but goodie Navico WP5000 Wheel Pilot gave up on us at our last sail, and the prospect of manual steering into Christmas and Great Barrier is not quite a cheering up one. The drive still works but the controller is quite dead. Just wondering if anyone has an older wheel Autopilot kit lying around, which has no more use? I'd be happy to pay up to $500 or so to get something in quick and dirty until we have enough money to pay for a 3-4k Raymarine Ev-100 kit or similar. Please let me know! Based in Gulf Harbour but I can come anywhere in Auckland or even beyond. Cheers, Olaf

If you look at the attached image you can see the coolant tank and heat exchanger and associated hoses are essentially at the same height but opposite sides of the motor. It takes stuff all heel for the Coolant tank to no longer be the highest point in the system... at which stage the issues start. Remote locating can completely resolve this problem.

Generally I motor or sail... but the way the motor comes ex factory the buzzer could sound within 2 minutes of hoisting the main on port tack even with minimal heel... I certainly what to be less restricted than that. 1245hr later and no real mechanical issues (other than a slight oil leak from a o-ring) would suggest oil pressure has never been a problem.

@Cameron, so if you self-relocate the coolant tank or the MDI box - does it affect Volvo's 5-year warranty?

  4. Hi @chariot, could you please share which engine mounts you ended up going for, and what was the shore hardness on them? I am having the same problem now with a freshly installed D1-30 and looking for a good set of replacement mounts.
