  1. Fine but wheres the haulout going? Not everyone can afford to chuck the keys to their man to get the boat antifouled at Orams. This is the death of keelboating by a thousand cuts, if RAYC wants to be all things to all people i.e a dinghy/knife and fork club why should the keelboat community have to contribute to that?

The benefit of Durepox is that it's a one coat system, its primer, undercoat and topcoat in one. You can add clear to white to get more gloss and UV protection. It wont have the gloss and long term colour retention of LPU systems though. Topsides should really be LPU, for the decks it all depends on how you want to do the non-skid. The best painted non skid is sprayed grit particles and that's done with LPU. Durepox is fine, but its not going to be a superyacht finish is the short answer but its tough and long lasting.
  4. If it was me, if you are going to the trouble then make it work for you so that if its raining or too sunny you have protection, maybe in combo with a bimini?. Otherwise just have it cover the companion way so that you can have the hatch open when parked in the rain. Also as a cruiser for the fam, a carbon/foam hard dodger would be high on the list, the boat has enough length and freeboard to carry it off.

However, the pattern during the first half of September will differ from this theme, with more easterly quarter winds. Spring rainfall is about equally likely to
  7. Try mowing 50 hectares, in low low!
  8. 50 hectares is huge, and who's to say that its only 50? I get your point about dredging but I'm unconvinced that it could keep up with the spread. Just trying to think this through, you'll need teams of divers controlling the suction end carefully inspecting the terrain for any fragments left behind. If it can suck up the pest then it can suck up everything else, so if it was 50 hectares of flat paddocks, thats massive but 50 on broken ground is quite another. Still it could be done but we would need hundreds of divers and operators, multiple machines working many areas whenever the weather pe
  9. Thats game over? At this point suction dredging seems pathetic unless its a very tiny outbreak, cleaning ground tackle and raising awareness is probably the best action to take.
  10. Ive never done it myself but a mate who got cat 1 doing what i would call enhanced maintenance admitted to double that figure. It adds up- rigging, raft, sails 20k no problem!
  11. After looking at the plan, I really don't understand what the reason behind this and why they are proposing a PPP. Also if the council can't afford it then the easiest and most practical option is just to leave it pretty much as is. For a fraction of the proposed cost they could achieve the bulk of their objectives instead of turning it into a glorified car park.
  12. Topsides means the hull between the waterline and deck, people who use the term for the cabin and decks are misguided.
  13. Any updates for good surveyors? It seems like a lot of insurance companies are requiring yachts have it done before reinsuring.
  14. I thought they were about $500, Grant at CRA is the agent.

What a solid crew, the helmsman is very chilled. Cant work out what happened, look like the bow buried and maybe a spreader failed?

  22. Locals have a stake in what happens, and anyone who has lived on an Island will understand how they feel. I am pretty sure the aim of the court case is not "free money" as you imply but to get MPI to take it's responsibility far more seriously. Just like our discussion about these agencies who appear to be out of touch, its much more relevant to people directly affected. After all, we are just talking about our holidays on yachts being inconvenienced not our way of life.
