I notice in the listing for Sterling lithium batteries at Burnsco https://www.burnsco.co.nz/sterling-amps-lifepo4-lithium-batteries-12v the following comment -
QuoteNot suitable for boats connected to shore power and needing an Electrical Warrant of Fitness as the AUS/NZS 3004.2:2004 standard need the battery to be able to disconnect from all charging sources.
Does AUS/NZS 3004.2:2004 apply to installations that are not connected to shore power? Just standalone DC on board.

Sad to hear. My first cat was an 18" Tiger Shark. Fantastic boat.

Steve Pennington from Boatfix. He is on Auckland's North Shore in Glenfield so you would no doubt have to take the boat to him. Tell him Ian from Rubbermark Industries Ltd in Manukau City recommended him. An outstanding guy!
Thanks Ian. Much appreciated!!

Hi all, I'm looking for recommendations of someone I can get to do a few cosmetic hull repairs on my small composite racing catamaran.
Background... A very, very long time ago (2011 actually!), I asked for some advice here about shipping a small racing catamaran from the US to NZL. At the time, I was looking at being in NZ three months a year, but there were no obviously good solutions so nothing came of it and life went on, including lots of sailing.
Fast forward to the near present and I've eventually ended up moving back to NZ permanently - long story, complicated by COVID, but I finally sold up in the US a few months back. And happily I did find a way to bring the F16 back with me from Chicago. Not an insignificant cost, but in the context of a boat I love that I've had years of pleasure from, a rising US dollar and selling my house at the top of the US market, it turned out to be a pretty easy decision.
So the boat is here, but after a good number of years racing, it has a few cosmetic bumps and scrapes that I'd like to get tidied up. The boat is gelcoat on kevlar/foam. Outside my skillset, so I'd like to find someone trustworthy who'll do a great job. So any recommendations of someone whose expertise you think I can count on would be much appreciated.
The boat is temporarily in Waihi and I'm in the Bay of Islands, so anywhere in between would be fine.
A few photos attached in case anyone's interested...
Thanks

I owned Crikey Dick some years ago.

Thanks, owner located from what I understand.

From the Russell Community Facebook group, in case anyone here has a contact...

Alert- Is anyone able to contact the owner of “Drop Dead Fred”. Or get out to her as the main has come unrolled off the boom and streaming out over the stern. Cheers. Matt Cooper

If American Magic wins...
“We are going to put the boat back into the water,” he says. “It will be somewhere between 80 and 100 feet in length. It will be a displacement monohull that is good for traditional match racing. You need to be able to see the boats from a distance, and the boats need to be majestic.”

Wow. That was pure idle speculation on my part. What a shame.

Arrived back in NZ last week and joined the Coastguard this morning. The website recommends installing their app. Seems like a good idea, but can't find it in the google store. I checked the google store website and see this: "This app is incompatible with all of your devices" - specifically a fairly old Samsung S5 and a very recently purchased Moto G7. Huh?? What gives?

If you want to be bored you should find a couple of videos of the trip on YouTube look for wharram tiki 38 delivery but be warned its not flash

Look up the Wildcat model on Trademe, I have one of their 2.6m roll ups, it’s awesome. Same style as TrueKit . WildCat is Akl based , but will ship anywhere I think

Though curiously, their website only describes a rigid polyethylene product... https://www.wildcatboats.co.nz/

Given the price and Wheels' report, I think I'm happy to take my chances with Ocean Inflatables... http://www.inflatableboatsnz.co.nz/models/

I am in touch with the new owner of it and it is still in great shape. The only negative I have had is my knees always get in the way when I am rowing
Thanks Wheels. Good to hear.

Ocean Inflatables of Dunedin. They will freight free, so don't worry about extra cost of freight. I have been really impressed with it's value for money. It is up there with the best of them, but the cheapest on the market. At first I was worried about buying one due to it being cheap, but as I said, I am really impressed. Apparently they designed the range themselves based on their own Fishing and Diving use and then got them made to their spec in China. But they use the Korean 1100 fabric. They have lots of little "extras" you only see on the real expensive names, like a bow roller, pad/strap for fuel tank, Ally floor, a splash fence right around the top that has a line threaded through it, an extra large scupper, good quality air valves and a decent solid resin seat.
Also several choices of colours.
Hey Wheels, 3+ years later, what's your long term verdict? Has it held up? They're still in business and prices look good. I'm gonna need to make a purchase in the next few weeks so sussing options.
Also, anyone know this crowd in ChCh... https://www.facebook.com/aboutinflatables/ The link to their website doesn't work so can't really get much info, but they got a plug recently from a blog I follow...https://twoatsea.com/meet-gozzilla/

Serena, the Thompson 38 has a video of them sending it off the start (on FB, Kraken Yachting), they have a red flag flying from the backstay. Some kind of start line incident?
