  1. Hah, another well constructed and sturdy girl. Similar layout to the Rhodes Cifero that is in Westhaven and still on the market I believe. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/boats-marine/yachts/keeler/auction-1449942558.htm
  2. Here is a Gladden 44. Admittedly old school compared to the Davidson. In my view nice older well built spacious cruiser with 90hp Ford placed where all engines should be. Where you can farkin get at them. 100k maybe a little more to open discussion. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/boats-marine/yachts/keeler/auction-1330994086.htm
  3. Trying to get my head around the lack of detailed information that has been posted. No info on the status of the engine or mechanical systems. Overall at a knowlagble glance she appears tidy but the Seratone reflects her age. Reserve has been met at 65k which is enticing and a commitment to haul and allow for survey is a positive. I am not normally drawn to a boat of this size given the known annual costs of my 45 year old 10m woody. What does a boat of this size cost to own? Marina? Haul and service? General annual costs? Raw Cotton which may be larger but in immaculate condition fai
  4. Councils never break even. That concept is definitely not in the DNA of a TLA.
  5. Yamaha 3hp. These outboards are the ducks nuts. Forward and neutral. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/boats-marine/parts-accessories/outboards/auction-1460589978.htm I highly recommend a Yamaha 2hp and as mine lasted well over 12 years and only ever replaced the impeller. Brought a shiny new one. Nice and light.
  6. Thanks for the info. Got big farkin fright when speed bore bit disappeared for its entire length . Luckily the rudder is well supported by 4 pintels and the nasty bit only held the flag staff atop. Flag can go as it’s a joke colonial travesty and I have simply now have yet another bit of my wooden log that now sits as many others do on my shelf of boat memories. Looking over my collection is a real journey through the last 15 odd years for this yacht. The piece I admire and miss the most in a both practical and aesthetic way is my Samson post. Finely crafted teak wonder that surrended to
  7. What is the best type of epoxy timber sealer preservative to apply to my rudder stock. Have removed a portion of the top of the stock after discovering dry rot. EPG in Rosebank Rd. Evadure . West resin thinned with acetone. Bunnings Norski Replace entire rudder with carbon fibre one and be done with the rot.
  8. I get great results from Move It. Dilute ,sponge on and leave or apply with spray bottle. Not caustic and fabric safe, great on teak deck, sails, sheets and covers. Have not applied to wife but pretty sure it would be effective. Why would you want to buy salt to make salt water, last time I looked the ocean is not a bad place to start. Go for a sail and clean your boat the natural way.

    Namsang

What a beauty the Namsang was. Stolen from NZ owner by an American ex owner/ scuzzball and lost in a river. I remember she had a solid stainless steel sliding forward hatch that also included the anchor capstan. I may be wrong but she was originally a ketch rig and then converted to a sloop rig which made the old girl creak and groan. Solid burmese teak hull real old school build.
  10. From memory it ended ended up at the bottom of the Gulf somewhere out between the Barrier and Coromandel.
  11. Nam Sang. Man, she was one pretty yacht. Owned by a Auckland car dealer if memory is correct and then liberated by false pre-tenses offshore by original American owner. Sadly this magnificent lady ended her days sunk in a river somewhere in the USA.
  12. Maybe Greg Young would have a opinion when it comes to disappearing yachts.
  13. Thanks for the post BB. On so many levels this thread invokes a lot of happy emotions. I was introduced to becoming a sea person by my father. Despite our differences and difficulties I have managed to pass to my kids and grand children the greatest gift that I in a lot of ways inadvertently received from my dad.
