  1. The new Sagitta is sailing around South America at the moment. Simon Willis built her about 5 years ago. 40ft I think. He is a guy you lot should talk to. He had the original Sagitta which was 35ft. Went off shore racing several times including a Hobart where apparently they spent more time under water than on top. Survived being crushed between two boats at the start line and carried out a repair by banging in a few nails around the chain plate area. She was sold to a guy in Russell.

He was hit by a ship last year when sailing single handed from Auckland to Kerikeri in the new version. Both boats well built.!!

He is likely to take part in the Vava'u race in 2017.

  2. OK, we have a date. It will be in May of 2017. We chose this date to avoid clashing with the 2016  Akarana Fiji race.

The Kerikeri - Vava'u Race will be the only New Zealand off-shore race that year.

May provides a better weather system for the race and the return trip home.

There will be a cruising division.

  3. We are waiting for confirmation from YNZ regarding a date. 2016 is the Keri Clubs 80th year so we are hoping for that to be approved.

It is very likely that we will include a cruising division as we would like to include as many boats as we can.

All I can say at the moment is that the local tourist industry up there are offering some attractive deals for us to enjoy.

As soon as we get confirmation from YNZ I will let you know more.

  4. Sorry about the late reply. I cant log on no matter what I try and had no reply from the boss so I created a new a/c. Thought that would be a simple way to go.

Regarding the photos, I have asked my friend Pumbaa to get them back on here for me as he is much smarter than I am. ??

Progress is slow at the moment  with Xmas and my sons wedding last weekend plus a bit of surgery.

Back into it today sanding the final undercoat on the bottom. Will then turn her back over ( again ) and complete painting and the wrap.

If anyone wants the photos sent to them , let me know.

    Cheers Mark
