Kicks Race report for the RAYC White Island Race. So Friday morning started at 7am leaving the dock for our trip down from Whangaparaoa to the start line off Devonport. All was going well until i noticed the instruments were displaying 11.7 volts.... that didn’t seem right so started investigating and we were getting no charge from the Alternator. After a bit of investigation and having a look back at my notes from when we pulled the engine out turns out we have 2 blue wires in the loom and i had put the wrong one on the alternator ???? so allgood we are now charging but have very flat bat

Hey guys I am going to have another go at gassing up the freezer on Kick, worked well last time apart from the system leaked... Have just purchased a new compressor as it turns out replacing seals is all most cost neutral to rebuilding the current one and trying to source a new thermostat as it seemed to be a bit sticky last time around and will be ready to gas up in the coming weeks. Does anyone have a bottle of R134A refridgerant that i could pay for what i use? Also anyone know where to source one of these from and rough cost? Thanks

I wouldnt be doing that, my parents and others have their boats on certified pile moorings up river and it makes them most nervous when people do that. Have seen a few boats that try that and have dragged into the mud banks and then sink, also my previous boat was moored up there and got damaged by a boat dragging in a storm, not nice when you are on the receiving end of someones bad decision.

Kick is out of the water this friday until 4th November, we are in Weiti River. Think you would need to Speak to Katie in the office tho

Run real deep and get it behind the main so there is minimal pressure in the sail. Also make sure halyard is tight to ensure the top swivel turns

Pacific aerials will make you one up.

I believe the other 10.5’s have had keels moved aft which would assist with that? Do you struggle getting forstay tension with that setup?
-
Is there a reason why you cant change it back to standard like the other 10.5’s? Chain plate on the stem and then a nice tidy prod?

Remember it is a buyers market so if they want to sell they would be flexible on price.

Considering it was an insurance job they would have rewired the whole boat, electronics should be ok as it sounds like it never sank only halfway up engine. If engine never submerged past the intake there shouldnt be any issues and again being an insurance job it would have been thoroughly checked. They are nice boats and seem to sail well, i wouldnt compare it to a 1220 as you are comparing an 11m to a 12.2m so hardly fair to match them off against eachother.

Hi Guys Would like some clarification from an incident that has happened causing damage to the hull of a boat. Mediation has been carried out between the 2 skippers and it has been found that the protest could be thrown out due to protest flags not been raised quick enough from both parties. How does this sit when there is damage caused and insurance companies involved who would want answers? Should the protest be carried out to find the boat at fault for insurance purposes?

Never blasted, just soft pad in the water. It would come off in clouds! Good thing is there isnt much left so easy for the bottom job we are about to do!

We used ultra 2 on Kick which is supposedly a hard anti foul? Lasted 6 months and had to apply another 2 coats and we are now another 6 months down the track and she needs it again.... very dissapointed! Best product i have used was vivid petit as i would get 12-14months. Boat comes out in October for a full bottom job so will be trying something different again

Is that the old Hupane with Rodney?
-
Attach a halyard to the boom where you are lifting the engine from.
-
You know you want to Nigel, would be a good fit with the 3 other 1050’s on the course!
