  1. You have me totally confused, wanting advice to put your boat on a trailer?now you want someone to sail to Gt barrier, how to heat up your boat, The best thing and probably the safest thing you could do is. Go from bow to stern and make sure is sound, have all the right gear on board,as at one stage you wanted to sail to whitianga? maybe sail around Thames until you get to know your boat before looking to go Gt Barrier. You haven't got a brother on another site known as "Pugwash' by any chance "PriceOfFish" this sounds all so familiar!
  2. you asked this before i think?finding a step gradient ramp, what does it draw, depth?say bilge keeler 800mm height of trailer (400mm)so imo you would looking at a flat deck trailer, unhooking from vehicle so you can get the depth of at least 1.3m. when i say unhooking means lowering trailer in water with rope to vehicle to get required depth, pull boat up hook on to tow ball hoping that front is not to heavy(trailer balanced) do a ball but what are the risks that it could go pear shaped?
  3. when copper coat has reached the end of its life 8/10 yrs?do youhave to start process all over again by going back to bare hull? checked out wax on plate this morning and a little failure, wax has gone so presume we did not get a bond between wax and plate?
  4. went out yesterday, thought things need to used and a dry out,1.5lt in bilge thought yep pretty good for all the rain we have had,out sailing and saw more water in bilge, wtf?a little bit of investigation looked at dripless seal and found a dribble of water, not from the seal but running down towards seal,Hmm.Found filler hose from deck to tank had a small split so when slight heel water would come out so replaced, unusual to find i had spare hose onboard of that size 38mm as everything else is 50 mm or 20mm
  5. Ok they want want to shift the port due to the increase of container movements. Now begs the question. Why,why do we need a port to receive imported goods? Why not start to do our own manufacturing of furniture etc and send them off in containers instead of whole logs.Bugger the cost you want our goods this is the price, Ok we would never compete in car manufacturing here,,we will import your cars but must take so many tonne of our beef/lamb etc The idea of a canal between otahuhu and onehunga is nothing new, from memory that is what old Sir Robbie wanted, just look at mangere sewage plant,ro
  6. not going to happen for 30/50yrs by then i will be pushing up daisies.
  7. marked at both ends by green markers, pity the reef lies outside the boundary and its man made, scow?ballast when they use to load at the panmure wharf, amazing how many ignore the beacons,so close to our river racing start line, always interesting at low tide in a blow.Who is going to hit tonight?mind you miss the reef and hit the mud further down below last marker as it is creeping out past the marker by about 50m now, even further down by the red cans the mud line has crept in to channel,10m to 0 really quick, lots of fun late afternoon outgoing tide.Dear Boss will be late for work?
  8. well just witnessed a yacht being hauled and 6 months and only slime ,Diesel,1 cup per 4lts in hard antifoul, old guy reckons been doing it for years, buggered if i know
  9. a couple of us sitting around the other night and we thought WAX?could it applied hot to hull, bit like womans leg wax, would it stick to hull when cold and could it be faired?so now have a plate with wax on it submersed in a place that wont get disturbed, maybe in 3 weeks time will have a look, there of course a friction factor we have not considered.
  10. why should it be available to commercial and not recreational/is it because comms are not in port long enough for any effects?they wants us to take measures we have no foul when moving around, yep agree with that but why take something off that works. Are we all going to going to go down copper coat road, stays on hull but not ablative?
