Bit of a long shot, but has anyone got a Solas 3013-087-05 lying around surplus to requirements?
Blew the bushing out of the prop yesterday, and promtparts has them on backorder, need something for the SSANZ this weekend!
(I've got a backup motor if all else fails, would be good to have this ready to go though)
Have tried marine deals?? They carry all sorts of props

A couple of yrs ago went on the Explorer Americas cup boats, think it was the German one that never made it to the start. What a wonderful experience. Unfortunately due to the size of them you don't appreciate the speed they are capable of. Must look out for another Grabone voucher. Saves about $90.
As far as turning one in to a surfer chaser boat experience he would be better off get a launch with a bloody big cockpit like pursuit.

Oil is a natural product which weathers and disperses in time. It's just a major problem in large quantities. With slow seepage over the years, this may well be less of a problem than uniformed people make out.
It would be heavy bunker fuel so should only seep out unlike diesel??

It is normal in that they have to give the owner an opportunity to sort it out themselves. All the HM does is contract the salvage company, then send the owner the bill. It starts at $10k for the simplest job, and would typically be maybe $30k, not counting disposal...
Possibly outside Auckland Harbour Masters area but defiantly falls under Auckland council jurisdiction.

Those Stewart sailors arent buying enough rum over the bar ! Seriously though two glasses of Chardonnet last week at members pricing $35.00 and they wonder why we drink on board. Buy a round of drinks for the crew $70-80 and if we won - you get a $38.00 bottle of rum you do the maths.
serious $35 for 2 glasses?? thought my 2 double rums at the viaduct was robbery $28 for 2

Hey, it should be Germanys problem, right? They caused the problem in the first place. Very wealthy country now. Deap pockets blah blah blah
Should the British suck up the oil for sinking the Bismark or Tirpitz??
Many hundreds/thousands of submarines/u boats/ ships merchant and navel slowly rusting away in our oceans,20,30,50 yrs going to be a disaster.
is there not a bug/micro organism that eats oil? Just thinking of the exxon valdez still doing the damage despite the clean up.

Yes, as required by legislation, however a Friday is not a weekend. The above mentioned drivers, too are entitled to penal rates for yesterday.
Ours is a company offer. No unions at our place.Still prefer not to work public holidays but as least I get Sat/Sun off
Pretty generous as 3% of hourly rate extra if start before 4.00am or 10% extra to work saturdays works out roughly $150 extra taxable though but they dont have to do it and some still moan, easy work, pallet on pallet off, very little manual work and still cant retain staff.

Not quite the case. I think you will find that the unionised NZ Bus drivers (Auckland) want the new rate and retain all of the original terms associated with previous agreements. I for one can't remember the last time I was paid double time to work on the weekend, or at night, definiately have never been paid $60/h to do so.
I am today.double time.Roughly $72 ph and it's a 12 hr day.rather not be working but big boys/girls want greasy food.. Driver.

Well AT has paid NZ Bus a top up to enable them to pay the Auckland drivers the same hourly rate as Wellington Christchurch and Dunedin drivers get but NZ bus has decided to pocket the money.
AT grow some balls, pay your drivers or we want a refund??

Bringing some guys over from LA next month to give them tips on suction dredging.
Seems simple to me, pump and water on retrieval goes through a big filter similar to what they use to pump water from sewage plant before water goes back to sea like at mangere,

Te Huia terminated at The Strand station, not Parnell station. But in any case it was more logical to get off at Papakura or Puhinui and just take the next train direct to Britomart (or Newmarket or anywhere else).
And now need to purchase a hop card if commuter's to use AK train/bus network,
Lets see how long NZ bus drivers keep their jobs, not collecting fares next 3 days,be regarded as theft me thinks.
Just go back to the good ole days of Ara buses?

Next week. Commuters need to find their own way from Papakura to CBD

So Thomas has been a naughty engine, the Fat controller steps in, now Bertie and Bulgy the buses gets their wish, down with trains.😂

There are plenty of examples of regulator intervention across the business and govt sectors.
I've no idea why KiwiRail has had this current problem which appears to be human error.
And the joke?? They're going to put buses on from papakura but the drivers are on strike.

The Te Huia Train has ran a red light twice in a month, so NZTA / Waka Koathanger has now banned it from Auckland.
No the train didnt run the light,. For the train to run the light suggests its automatic so then the fault would be with computor system but thats not the case. The driver did,why did he/she run the light and does he /she still have their employment is the question?
Have been thinking about White Island, active volcano and that is a risk you take?
Metservice gives bum forecast and you have a diaster, can you then sue metservice? All based on computor modelling but White Island monitored by Geonet so are they answerable to the diaster?

Caulerpa is classic, as far as i can tell there is no know method of eradication and with the sheer area of the coastline to monitor, its effectively impossible.
Why would a simple style gold suction dredge not work?? Bring ashore and dump it rather than what we are told, put it back, treat it like didimo?

That does not sound like an H&S issue, its sounds like bad management practices that places employees at risk. Lets put this another way how would the workplace be without H&S culture?
H&S is required but some the ideas are impractical. Working in a Sheetmetal shop late 70s,the Labour inspector turned up and explained how a guard was required on the pressbrake machine, was pointed out once foot off pedal machine stopped,But we put the guard on as per instructions, the labour man came back to inspect, was then shown certain operations couldnt take place with guard on,thats when he walked away and never returned.

Like the idea of suction dredge.

H&S is a complete joke, we have monthly H&S meetings at work, resolutions reached but not followed. A lot of policies are detrimental to the business. Just get the job done. We recently had a work accident out on the road at a customers site. The person involved should of been instantly sacked but because we were short of staff. The employee involved(newbie)wasn't time(apparently to sign them off)had the incident and company wearing the cost due to failure on side of the company.
A few yrs a go a person was killed on our site. Due to being in a hurry ,opened dock door to see what was taking driver so long to reverse on too dock, at the same time vehicle lurched back and squashed trainers head. If the trainer was doing his job properly would of been outside guiding trainee on to dock, completely preventable. No prosecutions,

Divers found small 20 centimetre to 30 centimetre patches of the seaweed in the North Channel,
The question is,why did they dive there, very strong currents. Did someone report it as found on anchor??
-
fair enough but surely there must be some resposibilty on seller/broker to inform me that there are rules/regulations I need to know before venturing to sea?
-
as a veseel owner, should I need to find out rules/regulations before leaving mooring/ramp/marina or should a governing body display rules regulation in prominent positions?
Currently no licence/rego requierd so why should I know the rules??
It is your responsibility to know and understand the rules before heading out.

Looks like divers have now found small, 20cm to 30cm patches of the underwater plant growing in the Hauraki Gulf near Kawau Island.
Will we get an anchor ban around or near Kawau?
suspect if they look hard enough the gulf will be a mat in several direction from the barrier, tides stop for no man

Gulf Harbour Ferry service no more?
in MarineTalk
Posted
Ferry services have cancelled, not just Whangaparoa,Northshore,Waiheke due too not enough staff.Buses had same problem .No drivers and strikes. Why build a non toll rd when the message is use public transport?
Public transport doesnt work in AK for a number f factors but the main one is .AT have changed routes/cut services. To get from home(rosehill to Otahuhu or back of Wiri.I need to catch 3buses,1 from rosehill to papakura township then change and catch bus to manukau, change again to bus going to my destination. When the 487 use to go pahurehure to papakura to manukau then Downtown via GT South rd.Wanted to go Mangere or onehunga.Change buses at Manukau. The train timetable doesnt coincide with buses, one or the other is delayed or not running at all. 13 minutes by car in peak or 1.25hrs bus/train
If there was a fast ferry with a proper terminal at Gulf harbour the trip could be only 40 minutes, cant /never will be able to do that via public transport or car in peak times
AT seems great at wasting funds without actually identifying what the public requirements are.Remember yrs ago(1980s) catching ferry from downtown to Devonport and enough time for a beer.
