  1. Thanks David--we have been off the pace the last few years--we need to get our creative director back from her television duties !!!!f
  2. Hi M, Practices are pretty much like we have on DF---contributions made in provision of help around anti fouling etc , refreshments (and we need a lot with a big crew and relaxed approach ) and just by being there --when we do long races the crew provide all food etc and don't allow me to pay any share and so forth --major yachting expenses are mine as l have chosen to do this and l could opt out but l/we have such good fun (the DF crew are the old " V team" crew as some of you know ) and learn so much , even if following the fleet . Looks like l will need to come on here to get another crew
  3. Hi there , Duty free is a 1220 ---its a great boat --its been to the islands twice, l have done a 2 handed round NI and several coastals/white island etc and always go away for 10 -15 days over Christmas --very very pleased with her, good solid ,reliable boat and feel very safe --on the cockpit --my crew bought me a fitting allowing me to take the wheel off when at anchor /on marina --changes the whole dynamic of the cockpit and space and, have taken her off the anchor under auto pilot to test how that goes --l find her well balanced , easily powered and whilst we are not a competitive boa
  4. Entries now open so get your entries in .
  5. Hi--November wouldn't work for me .I usually have difficulty getting crew numbers up after the CC until Christmas time as everyone is so busy . We would like to do another White Island (no problem with numbers as starts/finishes in AKL ) but l wouldn't do the A2T as there is the matter of getting the boat back for the Squadron Wednesday night race .The concern for me is never the race but getting the boat back to AKL which is why the Easter arrangement worked for me .
  6. 25 Boats --what an excellent fleet --com'on KM ,get your act together as you have a prize to give away
  7. Fleet of 19 already --still room for others --as the weather is predicted to be crappy this far in advance its unlikely to be by the time of the start---As we are the finishing boat and leaving early Thursday morning we are hoping for a nice sail out !!!!!--holding my breath
  8. The finishing boat may be asleep when you get there !!!!!

Hi Willow --how has this been running your compressor fridge --I have a solar panel to effectively keep on topping up the batteries but the fridge/freezer is compressor driven so am intrigued with how you are doing this . Any comments welcome, Andrew
  15. Hi , I have stayed overnight at all the anchorages shown in Jon's (Danaide ) emails --all are great --my favourite was out at the Cavailli . I had a 1020 in those days and easily did BOI to well inside Whangaroa in a day but l was in cruising mode (and with that the motor came on easily )--havent done the bit from Whangaroa to Mongonui yet but the people l talk to say its a long day from mongonui to BOI in a small boat --l would listen to the advice provided and do an overnight somewhere and my choice would be the cavalli option . I also use the i-pad navionics Jon has shown and when its
  16. Island Time --do you have a photo of this cockpit set up as l want to have this arrangement .When l bought DF it had a a fixed CP in the cockpit and a second one at the chart table !!! But its only the helm who can see it ( even with the light right down its very bright at night ) and we would like to be able to turn it around/over for the crew to look at etc "To this end, I installed a cockpit screen,...... Also, when anchored, it flips over and becomes our outdoor cinema"
