What a result in the Nacra - Argentina skipper Sante Lange aged 54 winning gold in his third Olympics. Oldest sailor competing in Rio, his two sons are competing in the 49er class and he lost half a lung last year to cancer. Didn't see the incident at the top mark, and what that meant for the results, but even to be competing at such a level at 54 years young is a testament to our sport!

Not quite a typical southerly in Wellington, with a B train blown off the Straitsman this morning approaching Wellington heads. http://www.stuff.co.nz/travel/82204547/truck-goes-overboard-after-breaking-free-on-the-straitsman-ferry It was only the trailers (no cab) and contained frozen pork.

I agree that if this situation was to eventuate the SI's should be clearer than the current "each competitor will be required to use the PredictWind GPS tracking service in this year's race. Boats that fail to track will be ineligible for PredictWind spot prizes and risk receiving a 10 minute penalty on elapsed time." What is the definition of fail to track???

AIS is great for keeping track of where boats are - to the extent that one of our crew sent us a text after seeing the boat on the move on AIS, when they thought we were still away up north (nowhere near the boat ...) Just checking that the boat hadn't been stolen or borrowed by someone! That was great to see!

Won't this be RNI 2017??? That gives you an extra year to get that canting keel. We at RPNYC are working on another 2-handed Central Triangle, scheduled for 2016 if you're that keen to do a big race in 2016 though.
