    Little Beasty

Have to wonder why they even bothered with the bulb Leech?
  2. I would have the sds sheet for it in hand, pull the tins before the scanner, maybe phone ahead and ask? Are they new or used part tins? New and sealed will be easier. Is there a chance of them crushing with the pressure change? Tbh There is always the risk you won't be allow to fly with them. if they are classified as non hazardous goods it might just be easier to post the tins rather than risk losing it .

    Headsail furlers

maybe look at the small (inshore?) furler from KZ Furlers. No personal experience, but NZ made and seems to be Farriers furler of choice for the jib on the F22
  4. As a counter point, the people I know with a taka cat wouldn't have anything else, can take 6 without issues, no problems with build quality, and handle like a small thunder cat. A solid floot is a lot better than the inflatable. Can't comment on how they row though
  5. Both crew Ok, boat is upright and safe. Hard drive lives to fight another day
  6. Cough hard drive cough
  7. Looks like I was mistaken. Thanks for the info booboo
  8. I seem to recall the owner wan't on board at the time
  9. I think virtually every 8.5 needs a sticker like that
  10. I always thought the 10% was based on the new build price, not what the second hand price
  11. Insurers are increasongly reticent about moorings these days, I couldn't get any cover while at northcote. Not to say others aren't covered, but that cover is becoming harder to come by
  12. ...and slower, just saying????

    Cat 3

16.08 - stove is only recommended for cat 3, not required If a boat has textile rigging, reconsider the need for a hacksaw entirely, but there should be a considered method for separating the rig from the boat. The duct tape is a good idea, would just need careful drafting for the rules

    Cat 3

Depth sounders on cat 3 racing multi's - can understand the logic with them being a navigational aid, but in practice are never used so just a box tick exercise Inflated dingy on the deck of a large unsinkable raft structure creating a trip hazard seems slightly nonsensical, although I can appreciate this only applies to overgrown beach cats Take a risk based approach to fire extinguishers based on what fire risk there actually is I wouldn't oppose a move to mandate people to carry personal PLB's, especially after dark

    Tri talk

Try and replicate anything like these boats new and the prices would be eye watering. If you have the means to race regulary and maintain any of these then the asking price is not an issue

So long as you keep it the right way up, I don't imagine you would have any structural concerns with any of these boats

    New Farrier Cat

Takes weight out of the bows and reduces pitching moment if done right. With it being designed by farrier it probably has been

From racetrack, speed wise 1 Frantic drift 2 Timber wolf 3 Dragon Although I don't think that fully reflects dragons pace since the rebuild. T wolf at 65 is a lot of boat for the money

    Main fitting....

Looks really good, Couple of suggestions: For the Cunningham, do what Cunningham did and put in another cringle 250mm above the tack of the sail. Make sure your main halyard is decent low stretch rope, ideally 2:1 and going to a decent clutch, otherwise the sail will drop slightly under load and you'll loose Cunningham tension and associated travel. Looks like you could do with another slug towards the bottom of the sail, outhaul tension is going nowhere. Maybe tie a loop through the reefing eye around the mast for a quick fix If the visibility becomes an issue, consider cu

    floating hotels

Good to get the notification from the squaddie that the ships would be on the move, at least we knew to expect it

    Double OOOPS

    That will buff right out
  22. Air NZ have already bought the planes, hence the saving. Also considering they have increased competition from Jetstar and AA currently they haven't done too badly. (Jetstar haven't done themselves many favours though). As for fuel prices being sticky going down, the research done by NZIER based on Dubai crude, diesel and petrol pump prices between 2004 and 2013 found no evidence of opportunistic gouging. Petrol companies pass on oil price decreases to consumers just as quickly as they pass on increases in prices. However the importer margins did go from 6% in 2010 to 12% in 2013....
  23. Air NZ are reaping the benefit, they have made as much profit in the last 6 months as they did in the whole year previously.
  24. Putiki Express is probably the closest, being a modified F24mkII at 0.89. The quicker magic's are sitting around 0.84
  25. Never seen one of the stainless fittings break. Line might look a little small, but remember these are pieces of line that are inspected regularly, like 3 times a year, and you would expect to have to change at the same frequency you would replace spinnaker sheets for example, every couple of years. As for stretch in the lines, its immaterial compared to the flex in the mast
